throughout my kane family fixation i have achieved a lot. i managed to fit adeline kane’s family tree in there PURELY for my joe and bette agenda. i gave everyone birth and death dates. it’s awesome

now i have a full timeline on my hands going back 120 years and even a little diagram to help understand what my dastardly scheming is all about

If DC offered you a no strings mini to write, who would you focus on and what would it be about?

OOOOOOOOOH OUGH This is so hard. This is *so* hard because it is one mini and I am long winded as it is and now I have to condense all my thoughts into a mini?? In my heart, I'd like to write a Bette Kane mini. I think she's been done HORRENDOUSLY dirty throughout most of her existence and I find what little crumbs there are of her character compelling in a "needs to be expanded upon and explored" way. I would love to bring back Kathy Webb nee Kane and explore Bette's relationship to her as a figure of inspiration, her relationship to her cousin Kate and a reflection of some of the events from Batwoman 2011, her relationship to Titans West and Garfield Logan as she tries to establish friends and allies in the hero industry but no one truly likes her and finds her enjoyable to hang around, dismissing her as unserious and airheaded, and I would like to explore her relationship to Dick Grayson and her choice to name herself Flamebird in reference to his Nightwing but also himself. I would love to focus on the nonexistent relationship between her and Barbara Gordon, where Barbara has only talked directly about Bette ONCE and that was when she was on a television screen at a competition in Hawai'i, especially when Bette was the first Bat-Girl chronologically and still is technically treated as having been Batgirl at some point in canon while Babs is given credit for being the actual first Batgirl? I don't know, I think their relationship would be complicated and catty, especially factoring in how territorial Babs can be over Batgirl (see her reaction at Helena being the Bat in NML). I think that we have a highly oversaturated Bats cast as is but Bette has always existed in this strange limbo where she shows up as cameos and the occasional one liner, confirming she exists, but never really moves anywhere substantial. So yeah, I'd write a FLAMEBIRD mini, probably 4-6 issues, focusing on each of those main dynamics for her over the years as well as just her personal feelings towards vigilantism and why she does it in the first place
