If I ever become a successful author, I'd like to think I'd be the sort that would answer questions...provided I hadn't given the answer in the text. If I know your questions could be answered just by reading my book and studying my lore...the whole reason I make such extensive lore is because I *want* someone to take the pains to study and learn it without my help.

Disapproving Of Ka/taang Purely For Its Mother-Son-Like Dynamic Is Completely Enough.

You know, I was just thinking about all the counter arguments to Ka/taang being a good ship and then I realized something.....

How in the world have I managed to gaslight myself into treating some dude's caretaker erotization pseudo-oedipus-complex babysitter fantasy like it's a serious romance that needs serious arguments to be invalidated?

Here's the thing, Katara and A.ang having a caretaker-ward, babysitter-kid, mother-son dynamic is enough reason for the ship to not become canon. Other arguments like Katara's abandonment issues with A.ang's flightly behavior when things get tough are absolutely great and completely true but the mother-son argument should be enough. I mean what kind of topsy turvy world are we living in, if you have to explain to people why a mother-son dynamic shouldn't become romantic?

When the creators chose to have A.ang and Katara parallel La Pieta, this is where the ship's romance should've died once and for all. By doing this, they confirmed once and for all what Katara's role in A.ang's life actually is, she's his mother-figure but yet he makes-out with her in the finale. People need to stop gaslighting themselves into thinking that making a parallel between the most famous and sacred mother-son relationship and the supposed endgame romance of a TV show isn't weird, disgusting and strange behavior.

Not to talk about the fact that they took a motherly and familial symbol that is holy and sacred to a large amount of people and tried to force their audience to view it as romantic, It's disgusting and disrespectful.

I never initially took Ka/taang seriously cause I saw the babysitter-kid dynamic from as early as the fourth episode, I genuinely thought the writers were normal enough to not take it seriously either. I thought they would end up going the Princess Bubblegum and Finn or the Dipper and Wendy route since that's the healthiest and most realistic pathway for this kind of dynamic to go. I was genuinely taken aback when I saw that they were seriously trying to push this as a serious romance. My first reaction at 12 years old was confusion and then disgust.

I heard someone say that Ka/taang was a crack ship that got made canon, and I have to say I completely agree. They say Zutara is the crack ship but let's all stop gaslighting ourselves for two seconds and see that the only crack ship here is the mother-son romance.

Of course Katara is going to end up doing a disproportionate amount of emotional labour in Ka/taang, a caretaker-ward dynamic is inherently one-sided in terms of emotional support because that's how it's supposed to be. The fact this needs to be explained is beyond me.

I have seen ships be accused of being toxic or boring (even when they're not) but never in my life have I seen a ship be accused of having a mother-son dynamic, that should tell you all you need to know.

They do all this and then wonder why a large chunk of their female audience rejected this pairing. Katara having feelings for Aang is completely unrealistic and out of character (especially when you find out all the reasons she liked Jet was because he was almost the complete opposite of Aang, but somehow they want us to believe that her liking him is completely in character, yeah sure....).

Zutara ended up influencing published and award winning authors and getting featured in restaurants, I wouldn't be suprised if the most significant thing thing Ka/taang produced were incels, nice guys and man-children who want their girlfriends/wives to tolerate their childish behaviors and act like their moms since the show showed young boys that if you act like A.ang they'll "get the girl".

To end this off, don't let people manipulate you into thinking that disliking Ka/taang for its mother-son, babysitter-kid dynamic being portrayed simultaneously alongside a romantic dynamic is in any way shallow. Your dislike on that grounds alone is a completely normal, valid and reasonable reaction.

TUMBLR STORY TIME.

I volunteer for my local shelter and when the weather's good, we do a free vaccine clinic every Friday. Free distemper, free rabies, cats and dogs. We hand out free food from the pet pantry, we give people leashes and collars, we do whatever we can to keep people's animals at home and healthy. Every animal that can stay home and be fed and be vaccinated is an animal that we can keep out of the shelter.

We get all kinds of folks, sometimes we even get backyard breeders but we don't do any judgment, because we want people to come and get their dogs vaccinated, because one parvo case costs $7000+ and the whole year of Parvo vaccines for hundreds of dogs costs less. It's just harm reduction, everything we do is harm reduction.

So anyway, this one day this woman comes up to the vax clinic and she is high as fuckin' hell, just obliterated fucked up, smoking a joint in line, and she has this TINY pibble puppy with her, maaaaybe four weeks old. This thing is so fuckin tiny and wormy and lethargic, and she's like, "Hey I heard I can get her shots." and we're like, oh fuck this puppy is gonna die. Like straight up, we were all like, fuck that dog is gonna die. So we gave her wormer, we gave the first distemper shot, and I put together a whole care package: wormer to take home, puppy milk replacer, puppy wet food, a leash, a harness, some blankets, toys, we gave her instructions on how to get the puppy eating food, and we told her to come back in 3 weeks for the follow up vaccine. And we were all like, well fuck, that puppy's gonna die, goddamnit, that's so fucked up. But you know, we did our best, and we hoped we'd see her again.

And in three weeks, you guys, she showed up. And she was still high, but like, half-high this time. Smoking a cigartte in line but like, could focus, could ask and answer questions. And she'd taught that tiny puppy how to SIT and had her walking on a leash. We found out that it took her three buses to get to the clinic, and she told us all about how she got the puppy eating right, got her stool solid, she was taking her on walks... The puppy looked so good, you guys. I almost cried, it was so big. Really happy puppy. At the end of the visit, we were like, ok, see you in three more weeks for the next distemper.

So three weeks later, she shows up, and she's sober, and she told us, "You know, I was really fucked up the day I bought that puppy, I wasn't sure I was going to live, and I bought that puppy and she was too young, and I didn't know what I was doing but y'all were so nice to me, and you helped me so much, and I knew that I had to give this puppy the best life I could, so I moved back in with my grandma, and I'm getting clean, and I'm on methadone, and I'm going to rehab next week, and when I get back, I'll come back and visit you guys again."

So I just wanna say. Sometimes it's hard to find a reason to get clean for yourself. Sometimes you gotta do it for a little critter that depends on you.

The people who claim the lyrics to Utada Hikaru's "Simple and Clean" are incomprehensible, especially the people who chalk it up to translation issues, are being disrespectful because it's a relatively straightforward song about an argument between two lovers, one of whom expects their relationship to be performed and the other of whom feels their love should be enough for them and that they shouldn't require them to jump through hoops to satisfy the hypothetical concerns and judgments of others

But more importantly, it's disrespectful to Mx. Utada's other, more genuinely insane, lyrics

In "Simple and Clean," the narrator's lover chastises them for showering them with too many gifts, pressuring them meet their father, and otherwise being terrified about the future because of other people's warnings. They tell the narrator that they're all they need to be happy, they don't need the gifts or to be shown off. The narrator insists that things can't be that simple. The narrator's lover, frustrated, insists that they express how much they want to be with the narrator, but that the narrator doesn't hear it, because it happens after they've walked away. The narrator then becomes overwhelmed by all the stuff they feel they have to do, and their lover insists their expectations for Proof Of Love are unreasonable, and that they should trust them enough that just saying "I love you" should be proof enough, then throws their words back at them: "some things ARE that simple."

That song is very easy to trace the narrative of. Mx. Utada's song "let me give you my love," however, starts out its narrative with "my neighbor's kid died, so we need to have unprotected sex RIGHT NOW and get me pregnant with a biracial child" and just gets less and less Hinged from there onwards

Water tribe people killed animals for food, furniture, clothes, etc. That's their culture! Air nomads don't killed animals, even a fly, for any reasons, they're vegetarian. That's their culture!!

There's nothing wrong with both cultures, but if we think about it with sense, can two people with extreme cultural differences marry and accept each other's cultures easily?

No, it won't be easy. Katara and Aang got married without any problems about cultural differences because Bryke were the writers!

Do they even realise that in canon Aang doesn't really like Water Tribe culture?? Yes, that's CANON!!

Aang : Hey everyone! Sorry I was gone so long. Katara : [Turns to face him.] Hey, Aang, I didn't notice you left. Aang : Yup, but now I'm back. [Sitting down.] Sure could go for some delicious sea prunes! Aang quickly takes some bites of sea prunes, but chokes them back up, yet he pretends to enjoy them. Katara, Bato, and Sokka look at him strangely.

Hama : I wanted to surprise you! I bought all this food today so I could fix you a big Water Tribe dinner. Of course, I can't get all the ingredients I need here, but ocean kumquats are a lot like sea prunes if you stew them long enough. Aang : [Sticking his tongue out in disgust.] Great!

Aang : [Whispering to Toph.] I'd steer clear of the sea prunes. Toph : I thought they were ocean kumquats. Aang : Close enough.

Oh, btw, An ocean kumquat is a small, round fruit often consumed in the Fire Nation. That's close enough with sea prunes, water tribe cuisine.

When Aang doesn't like water tribe cuisine, I can imagine Zuko and Katara having dinner, sharing water tribe and fire nation dishes and they enjoying it because it taste similar. 😂

Fire and water are the opposite elements, that's why they are compliment each other.

Yin and Yang shows a balance between two opposites with a portion of the opposite element in each section.

Remember what Iroh said about the elements? Let's see if fire and water don't mix together, especially for Zuko and Katara.

Every time Katara is mad, Zuko just silent and listen to her. Even when they're still enemies!!

Oh, btw, Katara not 'always' threatened Zuko to kill him if he hurt Aang. It happened once. She is still mad at him not because of Aang, but because he betrayed her.

That's personal to her, she is mad not because he hurt someone else but he hurt her. I mean, if she really mad at him because of Aang, why is she connected her anger at Zuko to her mom, not Aang (again)?

And after this moment, after Katara by her own choice, forgives Zuko, do Zuko and Katara always bickering and not get along at all??? No, they're not!!

Zuko gives Katara advice, Katara listens. Katara gives Zuko advice, Zuko listens.

They reassure each other at a very important moment.

Lastly, I don't understand how Zuko and Katara, who they said would never get along, always save each other lives, even Zuko sacrifice his life to her?
