george gets shit sometimes about tyrion and jaime having a lot more redeemable qualities in juxtaposition with cersei but honestly one thing i really like about the way that cersei is written is that legitimately none of that negates her status as a victim of a system and misogynistic violence. i think the text challenges u to dwell on the things her story touches on without the need to frame her as not an unequivocally terrible person, as if that is a requirement for her victimhood and for u to view these things as wrong and unjust, so i like her specifically being characterized in such a way. not to say that i think this absolves every part of cersei’s writing of all criticism, just that i personally like cersei being on the significantly less grey side of the spectrum in this regard bc of how it attempts to come at this particular archetype from a sympathetic direction by still placing emphasis on how a person is affected and shaped by a terrible system
