Some of them think he's making this whole 'colour' thing up to mess with them and try to catch him out by asking again on a different day to prove he's just saying random noises but he's like you are still blue buddy and they're like :O :O

Synopsis:

Carving Contest is a ROTTMNT fan comic about carving pumpkins, family bonding, and competitiveness taken too far. In a family of charismatic but highly competitive individuals, something is bound to go sour. And when friendly competition becomes not-so-friendly, and things better left unsaid come to light, the Hamatos will have to find a way to pick up the broken pieces. Especially, Mikey and Leo's.

my life for a Volstrucker book. we have the Caleb backstory comic but that only gives a very cursory view of the blumentrio only. I wanna see more, more of the training, the work and dynamics of full fledged scourgers. who are these guys when they're not being ~Mysterious or specifically Astrid and Eadwulf in an incredibly specific and narrow scenario that is not at all indicative of the rest of the bunch

Man I just got the dance hall scene in 126 and I have to ramble about Astrid and how much I fucking love her as a character. The way she's both incredibly emotionally closed off, ruthless in her ambition, unyielding in her ideals, a perfectly molded, unbreaking Empire soldier who has chosen her path and holds it above everything else, who needs to walk it until its end because the alternative is to face the notion that all of her suffering and pain was never necessary and perhaps even wasted. She has sacrificed so much of herself and needs to know it meant something and served a noble, higher purpose - her entire sense of self is tied to the idea that the Empire is worth protecting and that her work with the Assembly and Trent Ikithon is what allows her to protect it.

But also, she is so soft when the right person shows up. The way she speaks so gently to Bren/Caleb, the way she touches him, the way she clearly expresses so much deep fondness for him still, even knowing that he's in opposition to so many of the ideals she holds. Just like Caleb, she seems to have some space in her for the softness of the past and the perhaps naïve but genuine hope and comfort it offered. There's a core of deep, tender, genuine emotion inside her that Bren is, one might assume, one of the very few people allowed to witness.

Although, is she being genuine in how she interacts with him? I assume so and take that away as my impression, but I genuinely can't really tell.

And then there's the dance hall scene. The fact that I honestly have NO clue whether she's betraying Trent to Caleb... or Caleb to Trent. Her character is such that each of those options seem equally likely to me. I have no idea where her alliances are or which of her bonds - Empire and self-preservation, or Caleb and the dream of memories past and a softer reality - have a stronger hold on her in that moment. When she goes to the alley and sits with her head in her hands, does she wrestle with the fact that she just ripped away the foundation from underneath herself that she has stood on for most of her life and built her entire identity on? Or does she wrestle with the fact that she has now made the choice to snuff out the last subtle remnants of a dream in which softness and comfort could still exist through what is likely the only still living person she has ever held truly close to her heart?

I am losing my mind over her 😭😭😭
