I'll die on this hill that if Steve knew how Edd !e treated Lucas, he'd punch him in the nose. Steve barely knows Edd !e, meanwhile Lucas is one of the four kids Steve has spent the most time with. I'm so tired of people exaggerating how much that random guy he'd just met meant to him while simultaneously downplaying Steve's canonical relationships

(this goes for B! lly stans and Harr!ngrvs too… it's interesting that it seems to be specifically Lucas that has his bond with Steve glossed over while the white guys who were differing degrees of assholes to him are suddenly Steve's world hmmm)

also before it potentially explodes, please pay attention to the tags and censoring. If you don't agree I don't care, this isn't for you or reblogs of fans arguing that Edd !e didn't mean this or that, or rehashing Dacre's claims that B ! lly wasn't racist when he was literally confirmed by the Duffers as a racist and even planned to have him use slurs. Possibly unpopular opinion: Nancy Wheeler is a lesbian and Steve Harrington is gay, and they both have just been operating under the social pressure and assumption that they must be straight.

Nancy's comphet will be defeated one day, because there was undertones to her relationship with Barb I swear to god, and as soon as men start getting a bit too serious with her she understandably nopes out and gets spooked. Her behaviour to Robin and her apparent unawareness that she was coming off hostile and then afterwards warms up to Robin, it all just rings my former comphet bell...

Steve will eventually stop and realise he talks about the idea of dating girls and the image of a future that he's "supposed" to make more than actually wanting to date any of them, and sounds like he's just experiencing regular friendship when he thinks it's romantic feelings for Nancy and then Robin. (I did used to be team bi Steve all the way, but the way he acts and talks about it all, it feels just too much like social conditioning than actually liking women; he doesn't seem like he likes them, he just thinks he should.)

Also Jonathan Byers is absolutely bisexual, I said so. Him and Argyle? Okay.

just saying the last time Steve found out someone was mean to Lucas, Steve physically fought them over it

(and given the way he wins higher stakes fights where killing the other person/creature doesn't matter/is actually preferrable, I'd safely say Steve only lost against Billy because he didn't actually want to murder another teenager. I'm tired of seeing people, including the show's own narrative, act like he's some kind of loser for not wanting to kill a Human being.)

talk about steve harrington without bringing up either of his narrative replacements (billy or eddie) challenge, impossible.

those two literally were written in to fill the role the duffer's intended for steve and went back on. this is just a lighthearted its-not-that-deep theory but i think that's part of why they became so popular; because they're steve-adjacent characters. the second reason is because people just really love any opportunity to ship two white guys, especially if one or both are ~quirky~ and there's even a scrap of a height difference (oddly, i've seen people write billy and eddie as taller, when joe/steve is the tallest out of all three of them. which feels like it might tie into what i see happen to mlm couples in fandom, canon and non canon, where one half gets hyperfeminized and treated like a 'sub' to a taller, more assertive partner, regardless of canon personality or traits.)

i enjoy steve harrington's character, and i can appreciate the characters of eddie and billy, but it would be nice to go two seconds online without seeing either of them (mostly eddie these days) attached to his name like they're his world when honestly he had very little fucks to give about either of them and they had next to no fucks to give about him either. there's just a lot of exaggeration over his importance in each of their lives, and them in his. in my opinion, steve works best in platonic formats

can't name and shame, but this group i'm in couldn't be more cliquey if they tried. you can tell they're all friends from a previous group because they fall over backwards for each other and pretty much exclusively interact with each other's in a positive way, and then new comers get gradually iced out - even if your character fills a connection that's supposed to be super close and important to one of theirs, you and your character will get iced out

i joined this group to have fun, but so far i've only felt excluded and bad about myself and my characters

For those of you not watching along at home, Steve Harrington actually did not bite the head off of a demobat. I know Eddie references Ozzy Osbourne biting the head off a bat when he's talking about what Steve did, but Steve didn't do that. The bats were too large for him to have done that.

What Steve DID do was sink his teeth into the long, serrated tail a demobat had around his neck, causing it to release him from its stranglehold as it tries to escape him. What he DID do is grab it by that serrated tail - because he's not trapped in upside down with them, they're trapped in here with him - and swing it in an arc to bash its head against the ground 3 times before he stepped on one side of it and pulled on its tail until he fully just ripped the thing in half.

Then he spat the blood from the tail out of his mouth and looked around for the next one.

It goes far beyond biting a monster's head off. He fuckin' obliterated it. With his literally bare hands and feet, he was not even wearing shoes. Or a shirt. I feel like it's important we all understand he wasn't even feral enough for head biting. He was just fed up with being fed on, and was not going to take any chances.

I really want to get back into roleplaying and start with a group rp again, but OH MY GOD what is all this discord stuff?? I've been out of the loop for something like four years now, I have no clue how that would even work

are you able to see other people's interactions and stuff for is it just like... everyone just as private 1v1? that doesn't seem very fun? I'm so confused
