While Senku was growing up, people constantly told Byakuya about how lucky he must feel to have a genius as a son assuming that with a mind as bright as his he must’ve been such a well behaved soul, and while he fully agrees that he is so lucky to have a son like Senku, he laughs at the fact the people thought he was exceptionally well behaved, because buddy, you’d be sorrily mistaken.

It isn’t like he’d throw fits or tantrums 24/7, he was just an extremely curious and tactical little kid.

the amount of times he’d have to change the circuits of their apartment, or the unnecessary amount of blackouts their entire floor had, simply because 4-year old Senku wanted to know how the electricity worked. Your kid wants legos for Christmas? Byakuya is trying to figure out how to buy his kid field-grade welding equipment so that he can make his model rockets more secure. With the sheer number of times he’s thought his son was kidnapped or lost somewhere just to find out that he’d wandered off somewhere or after someone that peaked his interest just because the little guy was curious and wanted to ask questions, its a miracle Byakuya didn’t die of a heart attack.

Don’t even get him started on if Senku got angry or frustrated with him. Most kids threaten to un away from home, and never make it further than down the street. Senku managed to buy himself a bus ticket to another city!

Obviously, Byakuya wouldn’t ask for senku to be any other way. But God, was he a handful!

I've always enjoyed seeing tropes turned on their heads and played with, so the fact that Dr. STONE actively turns so many villainous archetypes and character traits on their head has always been really special to me. Senku is a mad scientist with so little interest in romance he is a walking aro flag, but instead of viewing human life as irrelevant or only caring about the progression of science, his main goals and values in life revolve around humanity and the connections he makes. Gen is introduced as a manipulative bastard who only cares about what benefits him, but he constantly works towards community and is always the one most visibly affected by blood and death when not holding up a mask. Ryusui proclaims himself as the greediest person in existence, but uses that greed to be compassionate and help others. Nikki is introduced by punching Taiju in the face and seems to fall into the good=beautiful and evil=ugly and Brawn Hilda tropes, but is revealed to be sweet and a major part in conflict resolution. Amaryllis is a textbook fem fatale, if you replace 'hot' with 'cute,' literally planning a murder upon her introduction, but to try and get rid of corruption and save the other islanders. On and on it goes, ignoring cases like Taiju, who is the most stereotypical shounen protagonist a person can be, and yet, these 'evil' attributes aren't treated as terrible, but at times even celebrated. Because that's what the story's about. Humanity, in all its parts and pieces. And it's really nice being told not to be ashamed of your vices for once, so long as they are in control. That being said, I still hate Yo and Moz.
