he had it coming

im the friend
Straight girls who are incredulous at the thought of an f/f relationship because they think it would just be like “having a relationship with your best friend, how could I take that seriously?” Is sooooooooo disturbingly sad because like, yeah, a relationship should be with someone you consider your best friend? It just shows how straight people have this fucked up perception of what a relationship is supposed to be like it rly backs up heteronormative roles of men basically looking for a second mother to do everything for them and women looking for someone to take care of instead of being an equal partnership with someone you both love as a partner and like as a friend
concept: me, living in my dream city, speaking multiple languages, working at my dream job, having multiple nerd friends who I love and who love me
When I say “please don’t take a picture of me” it’s not because I’m being bitchy and stubborn, it’s because if I see that picture I will seriously feel so bad about myself and think I am the ugliest thing on earth and sink a little deeper into self consciousness and hatred.
thank you
and before anyone says anything about selfies- those are controlled photos.Â

Someone in walmart:Â NOT as tired as our TROOPS!Â
*stares at selfies until they turn ugly* I knew it

The thing you’ve gotta understand about the whole Beauty and the Beast controversy is that Lefou was always a homophobic joke.
The sad, flamboyantly creepy little man hopelessly pining for the towering caricature of heterosexual masculinity (and tolerating incredible amounts of verbal and physical abuse in the process) is one of the classic homophobic gag roles - it shows up quite a bit in older media.
Few people were inclined to make a big deal of it up until now because a. it’s an old-school stereotype that doesn’t get much play in contemporary media, and b. Lefou is a relatively mild example of the type in any case, but that doesn’t mean it ever stopped being a thing.
All Disney has accomplished by declaring that Lefou is canonically gay is to transform an implicitly homophobic joke into an explicitly homophobic joke - which is kind of a slap in the face for what’s being proudly trumpeted as their first gay character in a major role.
Now, it’s totally possible that the live-action remake is going to reinvent the character to the point that it’s no longer an issue, but nobody’s obliged to give them that benefit of the doubt.
Can we please talk about this
so this is literally part of what’s happening in the US right now
If you are originally from one of the countries in Trump’s ban and moved to the US, got greencards, and decided to go on a vacation recently, you won’t be allowed back in the US. Permanent residents are being effectively kicked out.
Lemme just say that again. You could have lived in the US for years, possibly moved here as a child and grown up here, and been vacationing in fucking Canada, and you won’t be allowed back. All because you were born in a country trump deemed dangerous.
You guys. If you came to the US from one of the listed countries as an INFANT, grew up here, and decided to study abroad this semester in another country, YOU CURRENTLY CANT COME BACK HOME.
If you are MARRIED to a US citizen and only have a green card and haven’t gotten citizenship yet, you can’t come back if you’re outside the US. You could have kids waiting for you, but you can’t come back.
People who served our country for over a decade, people whose lives are at risk if they head back to the middle east, people fleeing violence and death, a mother coming back to her family from a business trip, and some kid coming back from visiting their grandparents could all be currently sitting in detaining rooms in US airports because our xenophobic piece of shit president is scared of Muslims.
Pointed reminder that the US turned away countless Jewish refugees in the WWII era–including a young lass named Ann Frank–with the excuse that “some of them might be Nazis in disguise.”
And now the American right wing is doing the exact same thing with refugees fleeing violence in the Middle East.
So when right wing politicians in the US try to use that “never again” line to try to make themselves look like decent human beings who give a damn about the suffering of others, know that they are lying. Anyone who turns away refugees now would have turned them away then, too.
