Millennial Minorities’ Bigger Role in Columbus

The rate of millennial growth in Columbus is following the pattern of growth in Seattle-Tacoma and Austin metros. From 2010 to 2015, the millennial population of Columbus increased by 6.2 percent.

A study from the Brookings Institution titled “The Millennial Generation: A Demographic Bridge to America’s Diverse Future” showed that minorities make up 44% of the millennial generation. In Columbus, 28% percent of the population is aged 18 to 34.

Out of the 100 largest metros, Columbus ranks 78th.

This growth can result in better connections between the elderly white population and the new minor population.
