🎃 Samhain Ritual 🎃- Wishes ✨
writing utensil and paper
Optional: extra artistic supplies for drawing; markers, colored pencils, pens, etc.
sand, dirt, flour, sugar, etc (what it is doesn’t matter, just that it’s grainy and light; we’ll be using it to sprinkle on the paper briefly and then blow away)
Optional: a favorite chapstick, lipstick, or body-safe oil like olive, coconut, pomegranate, etc (you’ll be putting on your lips)
Samhain has many aspects amongst those of us who walk the witchy path- the thinning of the veil, the connection with the dead, the new year, the third harvest, the height of personal power, and more.
It has many common associations:
Food: pumpkins, apples, acorns, nuts, beets, turnips, corn, gingerbread, pomegranates, pork
Symbols: jack o’ lanterns, cauldrons, bats, ghosts, cats, owls
Colors: black, orange, brown, purple, dark golds and yellows
Scents/herbs: apple, cinnamon, cardamom, hazel, nightshade, mugwort, allspice, sage, catnip, heather, mandrake, mint, mullein, nutmeg, patchouli, woody sage, wormwood, pennyroyal, rosemary, thyme, tarragon, calendula, marigold.
Stones: obsidian, onyx, carnelian, amber, bloodstone, garnet, gold, granite, hematite, jet, marble, pyrite, smoky quartz, tourmaline
Today we will be focusing the manifestation of wishes and desires, as well as the connections with those before and around us. Take a moment to get comfortable and center yourself.
Take your pen or pencil into your hands and start to slowly roll it between your palms. Think of the people and events that have brought you to this point. Reach back and think of your childhood; allow that wilder imagination and magic into your pen. Think of those who came before and their influence and connection.
Take your charged pen and draw a pumpkin on your paper. It can be as simple or as elaborate as you’d like. Feel free to use additional art supplies. Just make sure you leave some open space in the middle to write in.
Write down three wishes or desires you want to manifest. Be as specific as you can.
Take your sand, dirt, sugar, etc and gently sprinkle it over the words, covering them up. Let the earthy energy of Samhain envelop your thoughts and mingle with them.
Take a deep breath, drawing in your power, intent, and all the strength of your life and experience. Blow the sand away from your words, scattering the obstacles that would presume to stand in your way. You can do this multiple times to clear away all of it!
If you have chapstick, gloss, or oil this is the time to take it out. Hold it in your hands similarly to what you did with the pen. Gently warm it and charge it with your love, power, and the energy of the holiday (you might visualize the hands of your ancestors helping you if you are comfortable with that- it’s okay if not). Apply to your lips.
Take your paper and carefully brush off any remaining sand. Fold it into a shape that is pleasing or an amount of times that feels right. Gently kiss it as a promise to yourself that these wishes and desires will manifest.
Notice what sort of sensations or emotions you’re feeling. Make note of them.
Place the folded paper in a safe place until what you’ve written comes to pass. Dispose of in a way that makes you comfortable- or place in your grimoire as a memento!
Optional: take a moment with your favorite method of divination to ask the best way(s) to help your wishes along. Remember, the best way to manifest is to clear the path so it may travel to you more easily!
Happy Samhain!! May your wishes come true!
