Getting back to my "Cedar is an important piece of Raven's arc in the books and the show doesn't do her justice" rant: I find the book's choice to have Cedar have already signed her page and want to be the next Pinocchio, (or rather, it's a sacrifice she's willing to accept for becoming a real girl) and still choose to support Raven, much more narratively interesting.

It's a narrative's way of telling you, "No, Apple is wrong to want everyone to sign just because they want to."

This increases Raven's internal conflict because she has actually harmed someone she cares about. She asks Cedar if she's wrong, and Cedar tells her, "No, but you have to take responsibility for your actions."

In TUOTM, her choice to take a seat at the Rebels' table occurs after the Royals make classist statements,reminding that this is pretty much a class thing

It creates a great narrative symmetry between Apple's friends and Raven's. Cedar and Maddie wanted their destiny BUT are capable of helping the greater good (Raven cause),while Briar and Ashlynn clearly don't want to sign but still go for it because...Apple ig
