Not enough people are talking about how TGWDLM showcased how versatile the Starkid actors really are. Like seeing Joey as an asshole instead of the comedic sidekick or hero that we’ve come to expect him to play. Or Lauren playing such a complex character with so many layers which showed how well she portrays vulnerability, which we haven’t really seen her do since Little White Lies. And don’t get me fucking started on Corey Dorris. Starkid really had all of us thinking he was just going to always be a funny side character but I was genuinely nearly in tears during that scene with his daughter in the high school. He deserves so much more goddamn recognition than he is given. Also Jon Matteson??? Beyond talented. His breakdown during Let It Out was so amazingly desperate yet unhinged and it really made you empathize with Paul especially during the bridge. TGWDLM finally gave us a Starkid show that shows that they don’t just do funny parodies that they can create their own original shows with heartbreaking, dark and complex characters that they can all portray perfectly.
