The 'Hellhounds' of 'Hell'
During the break out of what would become the Herramus Global War, a large group of advanced daemon pyromancers formed a coalition and fled their respective kingdoms to make a run for the large island of modern day South Arctasca at Herramus’ South Pole. The island is by far the most frigid place on Herramus where only some of the heartiest fauna call home, a perfect hideout for the pyromancers hoping to escape the violence being brought upon the world by their callous rulers. Despite the stress of their grand exodus, the devil-like pyromancers maintained their sense of humor. Once they established a settlement at the center of the island, they affectionately named it "Hell", a tongue and cheek, and potentially ironic, reference to the place of punishment and torment as depicted by many human cultures.
Though they were safe from invaders, it wasn't long before they were discovered by a nomadic tribe of canine-like daemons known as the Yuraqlobos. The lycans were not pleased to see the red devils settled on their summer stomping grounds at first. However, understanding their plight and realizing their potential, the Yuraqlobos' leader defused the tension and allowed the pyromancers to stay. The grateful refugees repaid the tribe leader’s kindness by using their powers to provide the Yuraqlobos a warm place to stay and assistance in their hunts. The Yuraqlobos accepted the hospitality, but remained mostly standoffish.
Things changed when the war spread to the tribe’s homeland, putting them in direct conflict with invading forces and the various local rulers desperate to conscript them. The Yuraqlobos were capable warriors, but too few in number to fight off multiple armies. Their only hope of surviving with their freedom was to flee to the South Pole, losing their nomadic way of life, but gaining a new bond with their fire madjic (magic) counterparts. Together, the pyromancers and Yuraqlobos grew the humble settlement into a thriving town. At the same time, the two groups began intermingling and brought forth a new and unique generation of daemons.
Several among this generation have the physical traits of the Yuraqlobos while possessing the madjical ability of the devil refugees, making them perfectly suited for South Arctasca's brutal climate. These daemons earned the nickname "Hellhounds" from outsiders. The 'Hellhounds' themselves more or less embraced the nickname as a term of endearment.

Taking an Indefinite Break from Writing (Thanks for Reading)
Hard to believe that it's been two years since I started writing again. It's even harder to believe that I managed to write six different stories, a WHOLE NOVEL, a bunch of lore, and a whole roster of characters in that timespan. However, after two straight years of writing, writer's fatigue is really starting to set in. My current job isn't help matters either. When I started writing again, I was still job searching and had all the time in the world. Obviously, I don't have that luxury now and I really want to try other things. Honestly, when I finished and published the final chapter of "Ringkeeper", I felt a heavy weight lift off my shoulders. So, as of now, I am taking an indefinite break from writing. It's for the best, I don't have any concrete ideas for a new story, apart from the rare short, anyway.
