You can watch the whole video if you want, but at 13 seconds when he pulls the blob out of the furnace and WHOOOSH it's suddenly a ghost?
Good stuff.
Corning Museum Instagram but their youtube has full demonstrations and livestreams.
Chris Rochelle Instagram has lots of neat things but mostly this ghost.
[VD: video of person creating a traditional sheet ghost out of blown glass. It has a cowboy hat and two hands, one holding a lasso and one holding a pumpkin shaped bucket. They are working in a studio with tiered seating and an audience. /end VD]
if a trans man talks about the discrimination and violence he faces because he’s a trans man and you say “that’s not because you’re a man, it’s just because you’re trans! you can’t be oppressed for being a man!” you owe him and every other trans man a minimum of $100 each.
you cannot treat our transness and our manhood as two completely separate things. we’re trans because we’re men and men because we’re trans. when we’re oppressed for our transness, we’re being oppressed on the basis of a transition to manhood. our transness and our manhood are inseparably linked. you don’t get to ignore the existence of trans manhood as a unique cohesive position in the hierarchy of gendered oppression just because the concept of a gender-oppressed man doesn’t fit into your current understanding of how those hierarchies work. you don’t get to pick and choose whether you want to address us as trans people or as men based on what you find the most convenient for your worldview in a given situation because we’re always both and there’s nothing contradictory about that.
if a trans man says he’s oppressed on the basis of being a man and the conclusion you take away from that is that trans men can’t be trusted to talk about our own oppression and his intentions must be malicious, you’re just a transphobe. the correct conclusion to take away from that would be that it’s time to update your understanding of gendered oppression because your current way of thinking about it doesn’t apply to an entire group of people. if you immediately get defensive and paint an entire group of trans people as unreliable narrators of their own lives instead, you’re just being transphobic.
if you believe that an oppressed group should get to lead discussions on their own oppression and be believed by default when they talk about how it works, you have to apply that principle to trans men too. we’re not an exception to the rule, you’re just a hypocrite making excuses.
#I love (hate) it the most when these folks scream 'learn intersectionality' at me#While still prying each piece of my apart into an easy digested and separated section (via @doberbutts)
The greatest wrestling meme ever?
You don’t even have to watch the whole match to understand.
He’s right behind me, isn’t he?
ffs, AJ. Watch a horror movie.
This could have saved you.
"The Partner" by Vyacheslav Samarin (1979)
Honestly I think this is an excellent step for us as a culture and species but man a lot of older humans are pissed off about it.
Well maybe if they pull themselves up by their bootstraps and learn some emotional maturity 🤷♂️
today i learned how they vaccinate sheep and OH MJY TGOD
gotta put the sheep in the sheep chute to shoot the sheep
never have I ever seen a creature so passively Not Having A Good Time before
When a lamb is stuck it'll just Sit There. They won't struggle unless they think they can get away.
#these poor things!#there HAS to be a better way
Poor things? They're fine. This is like a baby in a car seat. The sheep are not in pain, they are not overly uncomfortable, they are not unusually scared. They probably are a bit annoyed. But this setup isn't hurting them or straining their bodies in any way. It's shaped specifically to hold their limbs out of the way without hurting their back, hips or shoulders. It's 'plastic cone on a cat with stitches' level of inconvenient, for a handful of seconds, and it's certainly much safer and easier than the other method (trying to restrain the lamb on the ground with your arms and knees while carefully giving it a delicate vaccination).
grabbing myself by the scruff of the neck and forcing myself to at least skim read a longform post or piece of text that i just scrolled past despite thinking it sounded interesting because it's "too long" i will NOT contribute to my own attention deficiency and limit my general knowledge and critical thinking skills by needing information spoonfed to me in bitesize pieces to be able to digest it i will NOT
the fact that Israel can precisely target ONE apartment in an entire residential block in BEIRUT to kill two hamas leaders, proves once again that they CHOSE to carpet-bomb Gaza and murder 31.000 Palestinians to "defend themselves" against Hamas. Israel CHOSE to kill civilians, they CHOSE to bomb every hospital, every school, every refugee camp, every residential block. israel does NOTHING to spare the lives of palestinians, they want to thin out the population of gaza so they'd be able to settle their citizens there.
this is a genocide it's an ethnical cleansing PLEASE WAKE UP don't stop talking about Palestine it is not a trend, people are still dying, Israel has no plan to stop if WE don't force it to, through public pressure and protesting and boycotting. it's the least we can do.
also if you are wondering whether all these awful things coming out of gaza are true or if things are really as bad as they are there i can promise you they're worse. for every graphic image you see and for every story that gets translated for english speakers there are thousands of people who weren't photographed, who refused to have their loved ones photographed, who are too traumatized to speak, who don't want attention. if you know a single palestinian you already know at least three or four additional horror stories that have received no coverage at all. a small example i can give you is that a fertility clinic in egypt received a phone call from gaza asking to terminate frozen embryos of a palestinian couple who had undergone ivf there. the call was from a stranger because everyone in that family, up to their fifth degree relatives, had been killed.
I am totally willing to accept unexplained light sources in movies if that means those movies won't be dark as fuck for the 90+ minutes they run
The light! Comes! From! The same! Place! As! The music!
Something I do really love about The Tumblr Experience™️ is that you get everything. The whole blog, in order, not by popularity or (usually) tailored to fit an audience.
I followed this person for one thing, but this is a really gorgeous picture of a bird. A gifset of a movie I never would have seen. A poem about brothers or frogs or ribbon or love.
It's odd but it's meditative, almost. I think it's part of why mutuals, especially ones we don't really talk to, are such a specific phenomenon. I've never spoken to you, you stopped talking about the thing I followed you for forever ago, I don't even remember what it was, but I like seeing you there, still reblogging gifsets of 1990s cult classics and parasocially blogging about Bob Dylan.
The Mavity thing is godsent honestly because it's such a good counter argument for future drama. "This story was too silly" on the Mavity show? "This episode went so drastically against canon" an episode of the Mavity show? "That made no sense" on the show where they retconned gravity? "They race-swapped Isaac Newton but he was a real person who was white" you mean the same episode that also renamed the real life concept of gravity?
having two pieces of media playing at the same time isn't enough anymore I need to be held
