By the time Vi found her again, Caitlyn had had six more of those jell-o shots, each tastier and easier to swallow than the last. She felt good—really good, actually. There was a slight buzz underneath her skin and her mind was unburdened by any of the usual anxieties that plague her during unfamiliar moments like these.
If she hadn’t known any better, she would’ve said she was…having fun? Jayce was going to have a field day.
“Hey, there you are,” Vi said as she walked up to her. “I’ve been looking all over for you.”
Caitlyn shrugged. “You found me.”
“So, what’s the report? Do you like parties now?” Vi asked, casually leaning her hand on the kitchen countertop beside Caitlyn and immediately recoiling away with disgust, wiping her palm on her jeans. “Ew, it’s wet.”
Caitlyn snorted. “That’s what she said.”
A gray gaze snapped back to her.
If it had been any other moment, any other day, Caitlyn would have felt self-conscious by the way Vi studied her with bewilderment. But just then, all Caitlyn cared about was the electric storm brewing in her eyes.
“Are you drunk?” Vi asked finally, amusement slowly curving in the corners of her mouth.
Caitlyn remained silent for a beat before admitting meekly, “Maybe.”
“Oh god, Kiramman,” Vi grinned, “what am I gonna do with you?”
