Heya, I made a discord server for all us verrrrrry straight and very neurotypical Star Trek fans (note the heavy sarcasm) so come and info dump to your heart's content, it's certainly what I'll be doing!
Check out the Queer ND Trekkies community on Discord – hang out with 23 other members and enjoy free voice and text chat.
Breaking my several year harry potter silence just to say that in the Apollo Justice Trilogy, they removed the harry potter reference they originally had in the game. Which means that if you still consume hp content and talk about it, you are doing worse than fucking capcom
Everyone reblogging this post saying stuff like "they probably changed it because of copyright/dated reference" NEEDS to know that 1. There are multiple references to Doctor Who and Star Trek and a character probably named after someone from Battlestar Galactica of all things and 2. The lead writer for the localization stuff with Ace Attorney uses they/them pronouns.
DS9 characters rated by how well you could name a dog after them.
(This is part two with just first names. Surnames are here. Ngl this mostly generic human names, or the same text already on the surname list for characters with just one known name.)
Benjamin/Ben: 6.8. Good name. There's not much more I can say about it because it is literally just a name.
Jake: People are gonna get it's a reference alright, they're just gonna attribute it to Adventure Time, but overall I like the name. 6.5.
Nerys: 10/10, absolute perfection. What else is there to say about it? If you wanna name your dog after this character, go with this.
Julian: Once again a people name. 7.4/10. I might have named my family's dog Julian had it been up to me. Picture for reference.
Odo: Good, distinct name. 7.9. Loses points because I once had a dream where a hybrid out of him and one of my teachers played the antagonist. Also, knowing Odo, I couldn't imagine this name on any long coated or stubby dog.
Miles: 8.4, the name has always felt more fitting for a dog than a human to me. The less milked out version of Milo one could say.
Keiko: 9.6, I love that name but it suffers a similar fate to Jake, in that people are gonna think you're an Anime/Japan kinda person instead of a DS9 fan. Once again just a people name.
Jadzia: 7.8, I think if I saw a dog named Jadzia somewhere I'd scream and so would most people that like the show because the reference is that apparent. Loses points because dogs react best to names with two syllables and because I can't just imagine that name on any breed. It's more of a cat than a dog name I think.
Ezri: 8.2. Suuper cute, less breed specific than the other Dax, but my German ass keeps stumbling over that "zr" combo, so that is not a name I would wanna say all day every day, let alone scream when they're up to Mischief. But that's a me problem I guess.
Worf: Sounds a bit silly. Thematically fitting for a bigger dog, funny for a small one, but not in an out of place way. Reference is obvious, you have both tng and ds9 fans on your side. I feel like I was a bit harsh here in part 1, raising the score to a 5.0/10.
Quark: 2.1/10. Please don't name your dog Quark. The only exception that could raise that number, as @sophiaforevs pointed out, would be a pomeranian,
or, I'd argue any small brachycephalic dog but tbh I'm gonna show good faith in you to not buy such a dog.
Rom: 2.6. Better than Quark but not by much.
Nog: 2.1. Don't. Important addition: Unless your dog has only three legs. Then you may, and in this specific case it shall deserve a higher rating, something around a 5/10-ish.
Leeta: 10/10. Cute, suuuper breed versatile, unique yet simple. Even more subtle than Sisko, I just love that name so so much.
Elim: 5.9/10. Elim sounds quite imposing, I could imagine this name on some sort of larger, long coated dog, but not really elsewhere.
Dukat: 7.8/10 just by the sound of it, but what did the puppy do to deserve that???
Adami: Adami actually sounds good, which I don't like. I'm giving it an 8.9/10 but just know I am clenching my teeth.
Bonus because @scenegull kindly pointed out he was missing:
Martok gets a 7.0/10 from me, I'm gona be honest I'm not in love with the sound of it but that's once again just a me thing I think AND should the dog lack an eye that immediately raises it to a whopping 8.5/10 . And yeah. Marty is adorable.
these are really fun to do ihbsjhd [you’ll probs have to open these to read the text]
some notes for fun:
i am like 95% sure that phoenix specifically went to school for performing arts, but i will always love the headcanon that he’s a visual artist too
i have a strong belief that klavier had an anime phase in highschool and learnt to draw from those “how to draw manga/anime” books and still draws sometimes when he needs to get some creative juices out but doesn’t have any music inspo. he’s gotten very good at specifically drawing apollo
apollo has never looked at a pencil in his life. also he saw klavier adding his fringe to his little emotes and added his horns after so they’d match lol
i think athena and juniper sit in the younger part of adventure time and steven universes demographic [at the time the shows were airing] so i thought it’d be funny to lean into that a bit, especially with junie. though tbh juniper’s art probably doesn’t try to mimic su quite as closely as i did it there
maya probably can draw a bit better than that but she was trying to make her drawings kinda messy/unfinished on purpose to encourage franziska jhvsjd
tried to give everyone unique handwriting?? but i am but one man. hopefully you still get the vibes
photocards ! going to start posting some more art i’ve done recently on here
i drew the klavier here back in 2023 for a collab so i decided to change the watermark and repost it with the apollo i drew recently. they work as a set i think. check out the fic here, there’s more pcs in it & my dear beloved friend wrote it.
