Minecraft and Inspiration
In this post I just want to vent and share my feelings. If you have been a long time follower of my blog, you know that the inactivity I have had here is not the norm. At one point I was posting stuff two times every day for months on end. But something has happened, and I fear that is has severed the final string that connected Minecraft and myself. I have lost all inspiration and will to do anything substantial in Minecraft. This has been a long standing problem for me and it is partially the reason why I created this blog in the first place. I was trying to reinstate my love for the game by reporting on Minecraft news. For quite awhile it actually worked. But, those feelings were felt almost two years ago, so you can probably imagine how dry the inspiration well is for me now. I know that Minecraft is a game of infinite creativity and it is almost impossible to run out of things to do, but I find myself in that spot. Lost of purpose and vision. I have tried mods and mini games and multiplayer servers with my friends, but they all continue to leave me empty and longing for those old days when vanilla Minecraft was new and exciting. So, to make a long story short, I was wondering if anyone else has these feelings? Is this just a flaw in my own character? I’m really not sure…
Just some pictures from the new house I built.

Snapshot 14w02b
Sorry that I am a little late to report on this, but I have been extremely busy today with my midterm studies. :) Anyway, here is the changelog, courtesy of Mojang:
"The first snapshot of Minecraft 1.8 has arrived! This update will be split into two primary focuses: Survival gameplay & improvements, and new fancy abilities for adventure maps! We’ve done a whole bunch of optimizing for both the client and server (with more to come!) and lots more work towards the Plugin API in the background. As this is the very first snapshot of 1.8, do remember to backup your worlds before trying it!
Big survival changes:
3 new stone types!
Major Enchanting & Repairing changes!
Mossy stone bricks recipe!
Updated Villager trading!
Doors stack!
Slime blocks!
Lots of other tweaks, changes, bug fixes and secret features!
Big Adventure Map changes:
Adventure Mode no longer lets you place/destroy blocks.
But that can change!
Added Entity Selectors! Use @e in certain commands to target entities. You can limit it with [type=Chicken] or [type=!Skeleton]
Added a /blockdata command!
Added ‘Lock’ (String) NBT tag on most containers.
Added an optional entity parameter to /kill (try: /kill @e[type=!Player]
Added optional arguments to /clear for max item count (use 0 to not actually delete anything) & NBT data
Lots of other tweaks, changes, bug fixes and secret features!"
There are lots of cool new stuff coming down the road here with the next update. I really like the idea of the bouncy slime blocks and I am happy that enchanting and repairing is getting worked on too. More importantly, I am excited to see more work being done in adventure mode. There is some awesome stuff being done in terms of adventure/custom maps from the community, and I'm glad to see Mojang supporting mapmakers with the new changes.
So, go out and download the new 1.8 snapshot and check this stuff out for yourself!
My WIP house on the TWiT Minecraft server. This is the first ever house I have built out of hardened clay, and I must say that it is very fun to build with. It seems to work well with many different blocks. So... What do you guys think of my first attempt?

Minecraft for PS3 is HERE!
Ladies and gentlemen, the wait is finally over. Minecraft has officially arrived on the PlayStation 3. According to the PlayStation Blog, it costs $19.99 and is a 103MB download from the PlayStation Store. It seems that this edition will be comparable to the Xbox version, plus there is even a free trial if you want to try before you buy. I have been waiting for this day to come for a really long time, and amid all the naysayers, one of my favorite games is now on my absolute favorite console.

This is just one side of a tower I am creating in a test creative world. Tell me what you think! Any suggestions or critiques are encouraged and accepted. I got this build style from the great YouTuber BdoubleO100
I had no clue that this land generation could happen in superflat mode. Really cool though!
Some more shots of my adventures in Minecraft! I have never actually spotted a pink sheep in the wild, and given that pink sheep is so rare, I figured I HAD to take the screenshot.
Notch, What a Guy
Yesterday, Markus Persson (Notch) sent out a tweet basically saying how he had just purchased the new PS4 console, and could not wait to start playing some games over this weekend. Due to his popularity, the tweet caught the attention of a head relations person at Sony, Adam Boyes. Adam replied that if Notch were to send him a list of some games he was going to play over the weekend, he would see what he could do about getting the games to Notch for free. Pretty damn good deal if you ask me! I would have jumped at the offer in a second, but Notch took a different route. He replied back with a tweet saying that he would buy the games himself, and likes to buy his own games to give the feeling of "it's mine". He did thank Adam with a quick "omg" and a "<3", for his generous offer. This is a really cool and heartwarming story if you ask me. Notch, who has created this multimillion dollar game, and is open to the advantage of awesome opportunities like this, shows how down to earth he is, and turns the deal down. I have said it before, and I will say it again, I have the utmost respect for Mr. Persson, and am glad he has delved into our lives with his awesome creation, Minecraft. He has really changed my life for the better, and I am sure he has in some way changed yours too. Notch is such a wonderful role model!

Out with the Old, In with the New!
If you have been keeping up with Minecraft news recently, you have seen a slew of awesome things coming from the confines of the Mojang laboratories. New biomes, new features, and even Twitch.tv livestream support coming soon. But one thing, a very iconic thing, that we see and come into contact with whenever we fire up Minecraft has changed. If you had not already guessed, I am talking about the logo. The Mojang logo we all have come to love, the abstract picture with the letters of the company in large block letters placed to the right side of the apple, or dragon, or whatever you think it is. Notch and gang have decided to change things up a bit, and have opted to change the block letters to a thinner, more attractive black color, with a more appealing curved font. They kept the abstract shaped picture, but decided to go with a rounded square design to encase a creatively designed logo. I personally enjoy the change, and think it looks much more professional and elegant, and sets the tone for how the leadership there want the company to be viewed, and respected.
So, what do you think of the new logo; good or bad?
