Yang Xinhai was a Chinese serial killer known as the ‘’Monster Killer’’ who slaughtered 67 people in a span of four years (1999-2003), making him the most prolific killer in China. He would enter his victims’ homes at night and bludgeon everyone to death with shovels, axes, meat cleavers, and hammers. Once he had killed a father and his 6-year-old daughter with a shovel, the proceeded to rape the pregnant mother, who survived the attack with some head injuries. He was executed in 2004 by shooting.

Although Yang’s motive has never been revealed, he is quoted as saying, “When I killed people I had a desire. This inspired me to kill more. I don’t care whether they deserve to live or not. It is none of my concern…I have no desire to be part of society. Society is not my concern.”
