Graduation Day. It was a day that she should have looked back on with a smile on her face. The same smile she had grown famous for. The girl had always had a friendly demeanor, one that people knew was sincere. She genuinely cared about your day when she asked and relished in time spent with loved ones. And this was it. The first day of the rest of her life. Her parents had supported her the entire way, paying for the expenses of her prestigious private school as best they could. She had them to thank for it all. And that night, after celebratory drinks with fellow classmates Cora realized just how all the planning and dedication in the world could all be wasted. Life could and would derail you.
Her laugh echoed throughout the house as she recollected a joke from earlier that evening. The sash and graduation robe hanging from her arm, her cap still fixed atop her head, although it was now slightly tilted. She tiptoed up the stairs before slipping and nearly tumbling down. A warm liquid taking a residence on the bottoms of her feet. Her lithe fingers now covering her mouth as she followed the crimson path to unsuspecting visitors. Her eyes went from the bodies of her beloved younger brother to his murderers - still drinking the blood like rabid animals. She screamed for them to get out of her house, a plea she had thought would be useless - yet they did. Not before showing their true nature. Her dear parents standing before her with their sonâs blood dripping from their mouth while a red, gleaming circle orbited around their hands. But in a split second later they were gone.
She searched tirelessly for answers through her mind, her accusations beginning to sound like the ravings of a madman - and she would have thought so too if she had not seen the way these monsters moved. Yet the fear built up inside of her, resulting in PTSD, landing her at Rockyside Mansion. Within a month, an old classmate of her parents spilled the toes-curling truth. Unbeknown to her, magic runs through her veins. Ludicrous sure, but after this classmate made her levitate, it was safe to say she didnât doubt him. Witchcraft, a dark craft only a few practice and/or inherit. A secret her parents had hidden from her due to the magnitude of their powers. They were cursed for eternity, following orders from the ancient Essex Hive but perhaps in a very deep corner of their conscious.. They cared for Cora and her brother. Of course, not enough not to kill him and make it look like he drowned himself apparently. No, Cora couldnât believe in any goodness in those monsters.
Cora wised-up to the ways of the mental ward quickly soon-after the revelation. She learned to bite her tongue, learned to lie about what she saw. That her brittle mind must have collapsed under the stress of their deaths. She had to find a way out, the monsters who had turned her life to a giant pile of shit couldnât just escape. Now a year and a half later, sheâs returning back to where it all began. Having been practicing the few magic âtricksâ sheâs been taught, finding company in the Ivy witch along with old childhood friend. The three all have different goals, that Coraâs sure of but she hopes their witch sorority can not only increase her abilities but also lead her to her makers. Sheâs a madman now, the crazed look she had wore that night never having left her once delicate features.
â Selena Ivy - This was an instance where if the two werenât at a place in their lives where waking up felt like pushing a cinder block from their chest they would have gone their entire lives not knowing about one another. They found solace in magic, and sooner rather than later it brought them together. Witches tend to do that. No complicated reasoning, magic simply gravitated towards magic. The modern world can be strange to navigate for them, however, and both feeling brand new to it, the idea of a coven slash sorority wasnât their first. If anything, they had laughed hysterically when saying it out loud too. But, in that same moment, the idea just⊠Clicked. If more witches join their sisterhood, something wicked would certainly make itâs way towards Brakebills because of them.
â Lavender Campbell - Childhood bestfriends, BFFLs in middle school, and part of an exclusive trio in high school, the two were like the socialites of Brakebills. A small town, they ruled the streets of suburbia regardless. Then life changed, simple as that. Lavender planned on flying to LA a month early to get a âhead startâ while Cora was taking a hiatus - another way of saying her parents were rich enough that she didnât have to go to college straight away. Flashforward to the present, neither of their goals going according to their expectations, their relationship has drastically changed. Lavender agreed to joining the sorority, but Coraâs unsure everything will ever be the same. She has known the other witch inside and out for most of her life, why canât she recognizing the person standing before her then? Why canât Lavender recognize her either?
â  Grayson James - During the year Grayson was to be born, there was a cruel phenomenon going on around Brakebills. Not a single woman or mother was able to give birth. Wasnât for a lack of trying, but not one doctor could pinpoint the cause of it. But still, Mrs. James carried a healthy baby Grayson. And on the day of his birth the whole hospital was empty and only Graysonâs cries could be heard across those silent halls. Cora remembers catching her baby brotherâs gaze then, only about three or four years old. His big, black eyes staring intently at her as if he was reading her at only a few seconds young. That memory is her first and last thought everyday since she witnessed his murders. She might not be strong enough, but something deep down tells her she has the power to bring justice to him. Not just justice either but⊠Salvation? How could she possibly save him from death?
Her face claim is Courtney Eaton and sheâs currently being played by Dorian.
