yknow how the greener parts of apple skin are tan lines from where leaves and branches obscure the sun? I’m surprised I’ve never seen anyone utilize that for printmaking
finally got an apple that shows this effect well
OH THIS IS EXCELLENT THANK YOU
I love how human the amazing devil sounds, like the little breaths and the “i forgot my note” and the “i totally messed that up” and the voice rasps
in law school, my mom took me to this stress retreat because my family was vaguely aware i was a suicide risk. and they didnt allow phones, so i brought this huge bag of books. and one of the options for "destressing" was this fake cave grotto thing, where they'd decorated a room to make it look exactly like an underground cave and the air was like -10 degrees, but there was a like 4ft deep pool in the middle that was kept super super hot, so you would just switch between the hot and cold. and they would bring you an endless supply of this weird syrupy drink thing that was like super caffeinated and tasted like sugar and mint. and so i spent multiple days sitting half submerged in this fake grotto drinking mystery liquid and reading. and i have to be honest i really did feel less stressed
Please please please I need to go there.
side quests from my dad: hey bud, can you identify this lizard? can you research search engine optimization for my business?
side quests from my mom: I need you to go into my downstairs closet. There is a crawlspace behind the shoe rack. Inside the crawlspace there is a cardboard Crown Royal box from the liquor store. Inside the box there are a number of cardigans I have not worn since the 1980s, you must find the navy blue one from Talbots and check the pockets. Your great grandfather’s suicide note and art deco ruby ring should be inside the right breast pocket. Have you located it? Can you use the cypher on the ring to transcribe great grandpa’s final message?
something that drives me insane on a relatively regular basis as a body jewelry understander is talking to people who have sensitive skin who are like "oh well I just can't wear any earrings without my ears getting inflamed" and I say "well what have you tried" and they say "well I've tried sterling silver and I've tried gold..." and it's like. ok. I don't know how gold and sterling somehow got spun by the jewelry industry as being especially good for sensitive skin but whenever I'm like "well have you tried implant grade titanium" they're always like "no....... but I've tried sterling silver... and it didn't work ..." like. I don't know how this narrative about sterling silver somehow got so strong but when they put pins in your fucking legs when you snap your leg in half are those pins made of sterling silver or are they made of implant grade titanium or surgical steel????????? HELLO. HI. YOU MIGHT BENEFIT FROM TRYING IMPLANT GRADE TITANIUM I AM JUST SAYING
to clarify this is not because of any particular thing about sterling silver being an alloy or anything like that. it's because some people's piercings think that they are open wounds and there are only certain kinds of metal that are rated to put in open wounds. the jewelry industry largely does not understand that this is not the same as "having sensitive skin" which I think is the real root of the problem. the body piercing industry understands that we are talking about open wounds. the mainstream jewelry industry does not want to think about that because it's yuckyicky so they keep trying to sell you regular metal to put inside the hole in your body that your body thinks is an open wound. which doesn't work. this is my hypothesis
Titanium was a game-changer for me. And the cheapskate's way is to buy a few French wire hooks:
in titanium. Then, you can buy as many cheap-ass dollar-store, rummage sale dangly earrings as you like, pry them off the original hooks, carefully ease them onto the titanium hooks, close the loop back up with needlenose pliers, and Bob's your uncle.
I don't do it as much as I used to because my eyesight and arthritic fingers win out over vanity, but it was a lot of fun for a while.

thinking of jesus at the gay bar again………
Do tell

a poem by Jay Hulme, titled Jesus at the Gay Bar
He's here in the midst of it - right at the centre of the dance floor, robes hitched up to His knees to make it easy to spin.
At some point in the evening a boy will touch the hem of His robe and beg to be healed, beg to be anything other than this;
and He will reach His arms out, sweat-damp, and weary from dance. He'll cup this boy's face in His hand and say,
my beautiful child there is nothing in this heart of yours that ever needs to be healed.

I swear, some of you people somehow manage to possess all of the three most unfortunate character traits someone can have: a) kinda stupid, b) obnoxiously contrarian, c) deeply annoying.
stuff you say when you don’t give a fuck about women quite frankly
i love how with most celebrities you talk about their outfits as something they wore (“when chappell does drag!!” or “lady di’s revenge dress!”) but with gerard each outfit is like he’s a separate entity. teal roots gerard. red roots gerard. blonde roots gerard. nurserard. cheerard. fur coat gerard 1. fur coat gerard 2. black and grey scarf gerard. those are all different men and they’re making them in a lab under new jersey.
however there are only 2 frank ieros - pink belt frank, and the one we have now.
It's crazy how many people use Death of the Author to mean "separating the art from the artist" when it's actually not supposed to have anything to do with who the author is as a person and is supposed to be about the idea that the author's interpretation of their own work should not be seen as the definitive, correct opinion on that work. Like you're not supposed to invoke Death of the Author when JK Rowling devotes her entire life and fortune to transphobia, you're supposed to invoke it when Trent Reznor says Closer by Nine Inch Nails isn't a sex song.
This is true btw
the podcast If Books Could Kill has a really great episode on the original book and its legacy! just a bunch of misogynist evangelical bullshit really
I want to clarify something kind of important because this kinda used to be my field. The concept that people express and feel love in different ways, and that this might lead to misunderstandings, IS something with scientific merit. The idea that there are just five and we know what they are is NOT. The idea that people have a primary love language is NOT.
In science, we have a saying. All models are wrong, but some are useful. That’s how I see the love languages framework. It is inherently flawed, but some of its concepts are useful. Communicate with your partner what makes you feel loved and understand what makes them feel loved. Understand how your partner shows love. There is immense value in that. But don’t over-index on which one of the five you are. That part doesn’t matter.
"I'm only haunted by the memory of my wife, my one and only love. And you look so much like her that it troubles me. Her name was Elizabeta and when she wanted me she used to play this little tune that echoed trough the castle. It was my signal to run to her."
I can't believe we got the wettest most pathetic ugly Dracula ever to grace the screens.
He was so disgusting in his grief and yearning and that makes him so hot...
This man! This man is absolutely a 10/10. This is how men should be about their wives. You're either happy with her or you're the depressed maniac with snot and saliva running down your face without her.
Immaculate depiction.
Instantly one of my favorite vampires ever.
His negative rizz has bewitched me. He is what a sad little meow meow is. There is no one who can outmeow him.
