I like how eridians grammer includes tone tags. Another win for autism.
how it feels being aroace sometimes
Valentines day is around the corner, and while many aro/ace people don't care, don't enjoy it or even actively avoid it, I'm here to tell you THIS DOES NOT HAVE TO BE THE CASE!
Personally, I use valentines day as an excuse to spend time with a close friend, perhaps watch a movie together, or even just have a nice evening doing a jigsaw puzzle! You've been wanting to bake something for a while? Bake something with a friend, or for a friend. I can recommend Finnish oven pancakes or cinnamon rolls. Perhaps there's something you've been wanting to try out anyway?
Or just tell a friend they are appreciated, even loved. Reach out to someone you haven't talked to in a while. Building close friendships can be one of the most joyful things about being aro/ace and I always feel valentines day can be a good push to appreciate and cultivate friendships even if in wider society they are not seen as important or valued.
Extremely excellent, very very very autistic quote from Brennan Lee Mulligan:
"Curiosity is love for the world, and when you love something, you want to get to know it more. So when you share facts about crows or pterodactyls or whatever, what you are expressing is gratitude for the ability to exist in and come to understand the beauty of the world around you."
"When you tell someone that you don't like all the crow facts, you're...
"You're actually saying that you hate me. I am my crow facts."
the next day after exerting myself too much because i felt good for once
my transgenderism is honestly such a natural part of my life i tend to forget its noteworthy to other people. so when an aunt i dont see often was like "so... are you still taking....... medication?" i completely forget she probably meant hrt and responded like ''well my doctor prescribed me omeprazole recently idk if its gonna help my stomach issues much tho'' . completely blanked. sorry ma'am.
nobody likes it when i cope with the horrid intersection of adhd and autism by becoming Big Reptile but that's their problem. because guess what. Big Reptile, that's right.
recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best.
It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence lies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.
Hey OP? Thank you for articulating something I've been trying to get clear in my own mind for a while now.
Its so funny being a person who loves to chat but never knows what to talk about. I feel like Hi Can we play staring and breathing together.
I just started Artifical Condition, and I am obsessed with the fact that Murderbot immediately accommodates for ART when they watch Worldhoppers together. It lets ART pause to process the death of a main character, rewatches an episode with it three times when ART is relieved that the character is actually not dead and agrees to watch the final episode of that storyline by playing it two minutes at a time because ART got scared of the ship in Worldhoppers being catastrophically damaged and the crew being killed.
It even puts up a content filter because ART got so upset about the next media they watched being inspired by a real story of a transport being badly damaged and parts of the crew being killed.
Murderbot cares so much, even though it knew ART for only a few cycles at that point.
Hey so no idea if this is a universal experience but can we please get rid of the idea that HRT will "cure" asexuality, especially for folks on T?
Like, my therapist asked me about my sexual history and I told her I've never had a sex drive/I'm asexual and she told me to start masturbating to prepare for a higher sex drive. When I tell my trans friends I'm asexual, they tell me "just wait until you start T". So many trans folks seem convinced asexuality is just dysphoria talking.
Yes, for some people it might be dysphoria. Yes, some people might "discover" their sex drive on HRT. Sexuality can be fluid, and that's okay.
But asexual trans folks exist babes. Asexuality is not something that's "cured" by testosterone, or transitioning in general.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
ok I endured it. now what!!!!!!!!!
I want them back :(
