DEAR GLASSES WEARING COSPLAYERS!!!!

Do you like to cosplay? Do you have perception glasses? And are you wanting to cosplay a character that has glasses, but they are not like your own??????? Getting new glasses can be costly and some times we just don’t like sticking our fingers in our eyes for contacts so we can wear glasses with fake lenses! Well look no further!! You can get cheap perception glasses from eyebuydirect.com!!! From what I can tell most of the frames are under $60 or around that price, and if you get single vision lenses then the lenses are free!!! And bifocals are $19!! I’m going to be cosplaying Mirai Kuriyama from Beyond the Boundary, and needed red glasses. Eyebuydirect had red ones like hers for $9!!!!!! Where else can you get glasses that cheap!!! No where! So the next time you need glasses for cosplay or just for your self I would give them a look through before spending hundreds at the eye doctor.

Status Update: There's A Wig In My Sink

Ok ok so I'm finally home which means a strong wifi connection, good service, and laptop access! I'll most likely do a dump of armor stuff later as well as a tutorial on wig detangling if all goes well. There are 52 minutes left on the timer, then I have to comb the wig/ let it dry and whatnot.

It's time

We're going to badge pickup soon! Tomorrow, the real fun can begin. We still have some stuff to do, but my lineup is looking something like this: Friday and Saturday: Keith (Voltron!!!) or Kankri Vantas (Homestuck), we aren't sure which day for each. Sunday: probably Eren from AoT, unless I decide to wear Keith again I'll update this when I know for sure, but this is what it's looking like!

Leg Day

So it’s been a while since I gave y’all an actual tutorial on this dang armor. The con is in 3 days and I! Am! Not! Ready! There’s a lot left to do, but I’m definitely looking forward to the con. We’re not here to talk about that, we’re here to talk about shins!

Yaaaaay Shins! I started with the following patterns by @socksofargyle for all of the limbs:

This was to get a basic idea of what we’re working with here. NOTE: Leg sizes vary! This is the time to get out ye olde tape measure and figure out the height of your shins, and the width of your calves. The shins kinda go straight down ish so depending on your shoes, this is up for interpretation. We used the basic top shin shape (Top left in the picture) and ignored the bottom, using our heights and widths for the rest! NOTE: Leave extra width for the final adjusting and taping.

That’s right: Taping.

Sewing took too long, and foam glue couldn't dry due to the round shape. So packing tape it is... I put some on the outside and the inside, and I have to say, I don’t think it looks half bad!

So there you go! Now you have shins!

Little Announcement

So you may have noticed some changes in our Paladin group. Originally, we were going to have a Keith (Me), a Pidge ( @merienestranch ) and a Hunk. We soon acquired a Lance and a Shiro! Sadly, our Hunk is no longer joining our group. I believe our Shiro is going to be casual, but it’s still amazing that we have 4/5 Paladins! So now we are making armor for Keith, Pidge, and Lance!

One word: aaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAA. We’re about 12 ish days out from the con 😬. There’s a lot that needs to be done! You can expect a pattern post in the next few days, as well as legs! So what you’re seeing here is our (mostly) finished torsos, as well as my Kankri cosplay! For the torsos, we foam glued the side pieces onto the FRONT chest plate, where exactly you do this will change based on measurements. Then, we trimmed under the sides to get the proper point. I sewed the shoulders together as well.

I’ve had the parts for that Kankri cosplay laying around for probably two years now, is insane. I need to 3D print horns and deal with those, Homestuck is pretty self explanatory honestly.

So Zenkaikon thoughts... It was my second year at this one, and it was both more crowded and hotter this year. I felt like my cosplays both days were well received even though they were basic. I only attended two panels, one that I won't name but I left early, some of the "canon" information was not Good or Real and it just wasn't a good place to be. Shoutout to the other panel, that Overwatch timeline panel was interesting! It definitely cleared things up for me. In all, another good experience. My next con will be July, so stay tuned!

Progress Report

Voltron: Ok so we're going to be continuing work on our Voltron armor next weekend! The addition of a Paladin means one more set of armor needs to be made (that's 4 aaah)! I will now be making Lance's rifle! I'm also teaming up with @merienestranch on Hunks cannon as well as the rest of this. Evangelion: My Shinji cosplay actually got recognized this weekend! It was simple but fun and good in the hot weather! Next year I may end up doing the iconic Shinji and Asuka synchronized dancing outfits as Asuka! Fullmetal Alchemist: (drumroll please) The next Big project I take on is going to be Hawkeye from FMA! Made almost entirely from scratch... this is way in advance though, as that probably won't happen for 6 months to a year. Attack on Titan: Expect the mythical Harness tutorial later this week, I wore it all day it's not going back on now. Big Hero 6: I'm planning a Gogo Tomago cosplay for next year so stay tuned!
