Others have said it better and more eloquently, but the LGBT community has a massive fear and disgust of masculinity it needs to reckon with in order to be whole. Bears, transmascs, masculine enbies, AMAB enbies, butch lesbians, masc intersex folk, drag kings, and those who find themselves in some fluid space between them or are masc in ways I’ve left out - they all need support from the LGBT community, they all have the same traumas from being queer, and all of them  that I’ve met have some horror story about hitting the ‘must be this femme to ride’ bar.

You can be gnc and masculine. This needs to be embraced.

Masculine people are not the enemy. The community needs to be as ready to embrace its brothers as it is its sisters. We are all queer.

If a child came to OP with concerns and criticism about adult content they shouldn’t be viewing, then their parents should be monitoring their internet usage because they aren’t obeying rating based restrictions.

If a 12 year old snuck into see Deadpool or It and then complained to the threats about it, the theater would probably call their parents and report them for sneaking into an R rated movie.

Ratings are their for a reason.

Also, ‘talk to your parents/other trusted adult’ if something upsets you is good advice. OP is telling them they need to talk to an adult, their parents, not a stranger on the internet.

If an adult has a problem with a child’s behavior offline, a light warning and speaking to the parents is how it goes, nothing odd about that. But online, as much as we would like to have an adult conversation about how little Timmy needs to stop peeking in neighbor’s windows because he’s not ready to understand swinging and pony play yet and besides he’s breaking the law, we have to interact with the children themselves in a more direct fashion. We have to rely on them to ask their parents to step up and parent, and that’s more responsibility than some of them want to handle.

What I do find ironic about this entire situation is that the children don’t hesitate to demand that the adult fans treat them like the children they are, but when we do, they’re upset. They don’t want, “The sign means ‘stay out’ Timmy,” or “I’m going to have to talk to your mother, Timmy,” but “Pour the booze down the toilet, babyproof the house and turn the whole world into a Zero Tolerance zone because Timmy exists.” For a group that’s so staunchly anti-kink, they’re very into ageplay and topping from the bottom.

See, what I think is happening is that they REALLY want to not have to see the age-inappropriate things they PERSONALLY don’t like, without having to put in any effort to avoid said things. If their parents start monitoring their computer stuff, they won’t be able to see the age-inappropriate stuff they DO want to see. After all, if NSFW stuff is properly tagged, they shouldn’t have been able to see it in the first place unless they were already looking for NSFW things, right?

I see you do translations for mdzs and I was wondering if you could help me out with something. I’ve only watched The Untamed but I’ve been reading a lot of fic where they call Yanli Shijie...I thought that translated to corpse or body??? I thought Wei Wuxian called her jiejie or shiejie but now I’m not sure if shiejie is even a real word/words. So yeah. Is it Shijie? Or has autocorrect gone haywire on some people’s fics?

Hi! Shiejie does not exist in Chinese and you’re thinking of shiti (尸体) when you say ‘corpse’! Wei Wuxian calls Jiang Yanli shijie (师姐), shi means ‘teacher’ here and jie is ‘elder sister’ so shijie is applied to an elder female student than yourself with whom you share a teacher. In wuxia/xianxia settings, it’s used between disciples of the same Sect and often translated as ‘martial sister’. I think the some of the confusion might stem from the English subtitles which replaced some of the Chinese honorifics by the person’s name as the format is not conducive to lengthy translator’s notes ^^'

So yes, Wei Wuxian uses exclusively shijie and not jiejie. By contrast, Jiang Cheng uses jiejie (’big sister’), jie (‘big sis’) and a-jie (addition of the affectionate ‘a-’ prefix).

Jiejie is one of these versatile terms that depend of the bond you share with that person, you can use it with a woman a bit older than you who is a total stranger as a friendly way to address them, in this case it’s approximately equivalent to the English ‘Miss’. However, Wei Wuxian and Jiang Yanli are or course not strangers to each other, they are fellow disciples of the Yunmeng Jiang Sect in addition to being close friends who grew up together. They are too close for jiejie being used as a friendly term of strangers but they are not related by blood so jiejie can’t be used as kinship term either. Shijie is the term that properly convey their relationship. Hope I’m making sense!

By the way, the male and female terms shixiong (师兄) / shijie (师姐) exist in modern China in some universities as an honorific for older classmates (depending on the local customs, xuezhang (学长) / xuejie (学姐) might be used instead). But it would imply a polite distance with someone not on first name basis =)

Hey so I haven't seen much about this on Tumblr, but the UK Government backed out of including Transgender people in the Conversion Therapy Ban yesterday on TDOV (Thursday 31st of March, 2022)

It was first stated that the ban would be dropped entirely, but a revision was made a few hours later, stating that it would go ahead for sexualities, but not gender identities - against the advice of the NHS (That's the National Health Service, for those outside of the UK), even.

i attended a funeral for the mother of my father's close friend (a dude) and had the exact same experience. not one for one, but at the wake, which in my culture consists of people sitting down to a large shared meal (with a few mandatory dishes present and consumed accompanied by specific toasts at the beginning) and people sharing stories of the person who passed, celebrating their life and remembering them, every single goddamn thing these people said about this woman was not about this woman--no, it was about what she did for each specific person. not even who she was to them but literally, here are all the things she did for others. i met this lady three times prior in my life and i still know next to nothing about her and i learned nothing about her as a person beyond the things she did for these other people as well as her son and her husband. years later, i am still a little shell shocked when i think about it.
