Backstage of a tour was always loud. Constant yells from your husband, or the blood curdling screams from the thousands of people he had hurdled up behind a gate.
You rarely came on tours like this. Well. You did- but that was before you had a baby, and that changes alot. Your newborn Grayson, had just turned 4 months old, and was old enough to crawl around.
Backstage of a very loud concert wasn't the best place to have a baby. It could get really loud from time to time, and his ears were sensitive. But, that's how Joe convinced you to come, and bring his son.
Joe knew it was a problem, you'd talk about it nonstop, saying how you missed being at his tours without a sensitive child. He was a creative guy, so it didn't take him long to go on amazon and buy a pair of mini ear plugs for him.
You didn't think they'd work, but surprisingly- they did!
Grayson was slapping around on the floor, his little chubby hands grabbing the cold tile every time he moved. It was always harder with a baby. You could no longer sit back, and just.. enjoy the music from your husband, you had to keep eyes on your baby.
Joe had set up your own personal vanity in his room backstage, that would re-appear every time he came back for another show. What was once a neat vanity, was now a baby supply storage system.
The hollers from outside weren't hard to miss. Your husbands goodbyes, and the other constant yelling he did. Why?.. couldn't tell you.
"Are you ready to see daddy, gray?" A soft smile pulled at your lips, as two little grabby palms reached for your knee.
You knew Joe would be here any minute, due to the rolling of equipment passing by outside the door, and the voices of his friends returning from stage.
Grayson plopped into your lap with the help of your lift, his body slumping forward as your palms supported him by his tummy.
Then- the door clicked open.
Joe was all sweaty, his bandana ripped off, and his sunglasses barely hanging on to his sweat slick face.
He didn't even bother shutting the door, before he was leaning down, and shuffling over to Grayson, who was already cackling, and reaching.
"Hey little man- " He smiled, his perfectly straight teeth revealing as he lifted Grayson against his hip, his big hands supporting him all over.
Grayson cooed, drool slipping from his chin onto Joe's shirt.
" Gross. Your just too cute to get mad at, huh? " He let out a laugh when Grayson babbled.
He took the sunglasses from his nose, and hooked them into the neck of his shirt, His hand wiped the sheen layer of sweat off his face, blinking a few times, then looking back at Grayson.
" Were you good for momma? I bet you were you little turd. " He nuzzled his strong nose into Grayson's cheek, kissing the plush skin.
"He was great. Sat and waited for his daddy the whole time." You smiled, eyes following Joe as he moved over to you.
First, his hand reached for your soft, slightly raised belly. That bump was still shrinking, and it still had him in awe.
Then, he leaned down, and pressed multiple kisses to your cheek, then one wet one right to your lips. Men.
"Hello pretty girl, don't think i was forgettin' you. " He huffed, his thumb reaching up to give your cheek a few strokes, then giving you another quick peck on the nose.
A soft blush reddened your cheeks, but you brushed it off. You were married, with a kid, blushing over a kiss on the nose.
A while after the show had ended, approximately an hour or two, Joe was sat in the room, Grayson on his hip as he cleaned up his vanity. It was hard to believe how messy it got after tours.
Finally, Joe sat down into his chair. He reached for the diaper bag you brought, and pulled out a tube of baby snacks. It was for babies, but before buying snacks for your baby, you'd try it. And honestly-- You could eat them yourself. Who thought to make baby food so appealing?
He shook some out into his palm, grayson already drooling with big brown eyes. He was always eager when it came to food.
Joe gave a look around, then popped a few of the puffed stars into his mouth, then held one out for Grayson.
His slobbery mouth leaned forward, taking the puff, and knawing on it with his gums.
You looked up and sighed. Yes, it was good, but you always had to remind Joe that those snacks were for the baby, not the 33 year old man.
" Joe-- those are for grayson, not you you hungry beast. Didn't i pack you stuff in your lunchbox? " You huffed.
Joe gave a one sided shrug and swallowed, his voice gruff.
" Well.. I do like to have appetizers before my real meal. So-- its only fair. Plus! He doesn't mind, right handsome? " He cooed. Grayson looked at him with drool dripping down his chin and swallowed.
" See. He agrees. " He gave a smile, and a small nod.
You shook your head, and rolled your eyes, fighting the smile that threatened at your lips.
