HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!!!🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Here are some gay characters in horror movies I’ve watched !

• Knock at the Cabin (2023): Eric & Andrew are a couple with their adopted daughter Wen.

• Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022): Sophie and Bee are dating during the movie.

• Slay (2024): drag queens Mama Sue Flay, Robin Banks, Bella Da Boys, and Olive Wood get stuck at a small town bar while vampires threaten the bar.

• Queens of the Dead (2025): Dre is married to a pregnant nurse named Lizzy. Kelsey is dating Pops and they all try to survive with drag queens Sam, Ginsey, and Nico during a zombie outbreak.

• Fear Street trilogy (2021): Sam and Deena are dating throughout the trilogy. In Fear Street 1666, Sarah Fier and Hannah Miller fall in love.

• I Saw the TV Glow (2024): Owen and Maddy explore repression and the fear of coming out. The film is an allegory for the trans experience.

• Titane (2021): Alexia lives her life as a man to conceal her identity. As Adrien, Alexia explores gender fluidity.

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL TRANSGENDER DAY OF VISIBILITY 🏳️‍⚧️🫶

Here are some trans characters and actors in horror! From left to right, top to bottom:

• Owen and Maddy from I Saw the TV Glow (2024). Owen is played by Justice Smith who is queer and advocates with his platform for Black queer and trans lives. Maddy is played by Jack Haven who is nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns.

• Gretchen from Cuckoo (2024). Gretchen is played by Hunter Schafer who is a trans woman and an activist for LGBTQ rights.

• Raúl Cocolotl from Wendell and Wild (2022). Raúl is a trans boy and is the first transgender character in a stop motion animated film. He is Mexican-American and to reflect his ethnic background, director Henry Selick states that for Raúl’s design, he turned to Argentine illustrator Pablo Lobato who then used influences from Mayan, Aztec, Incan, and Toltec artwork and stone sculptures. Raúl is voiced by Sam Zelaya who is a trans man.

• Jordan Lewis from They/Them (2022). Jordan is nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns. Jordan is played by Theo Germaine who is transmasc and nonbinary and uses they/he pronouns.

I hope this post spreads awareness about trans characters in horror movies. Trans people in the US and around the world are actively losing their rights and it’s important now more than ever that we raise awareness and support transgender people. Transgender people are regular humans who deserve to live and thrive just as much as anybody else. 🩵🩷🤍🩷🩵

THE BRIDE (2026) Dir. MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL

Last night I watched The Bride! and I really liked it :D

I really enjoyed a lot about this movie. The cast was awesome, Jessie and Christian’s performances especially like omg. I also liked the dance scenes like it just felt so fun and whimsical. Some of the imagery reminded me of Lisa Frankenstein when Lisa would have dreams while she slept. I like that The Bride got to choose what she wanted to do and she was accepted by the queers at the underground queer club place (I’m assuming that’s what that was). I also really appreciate that in this movie, The Bride was never sexually assaulted. While men did try and groped her, it never fully went all the way and I was really scared while watching that she would get raped. But she never was. Frank helped protect her and she would stand up for herself as well. That just meant a lot to me considering in horror movies, rape is often used as like shock value or for narrative reasons that the movie could just have done another way.

The movie wasn’t perfect and was pretty surface level feminism but I think it was still really fun and I couldn’t help but fall in love with The Bride. She stole my heart just like she did Frank’s.

While it flopped with a majority of the audience, I predict The Bride! will develop a cult following like Jennifer’s Body and Lisa Frankenstein.

It’s Mermay and I didn’t realize it but I guess seeing all the mermaid fanart online subconsciously got me in the mood to watch mermaid/ocean movies XD So last night I decided to lean into it and I started watching Blue My Mind, a mermaid horror film from Switzerland.
