Okay... after watching the storyboard an unhealthy amount of times, I've got to admit that I like canon version better, but there's something I wished they'd have kept.

In the movie Celine says, "Everything I was taught told me you were wrong". I've always had mixed feelings about this quote. It's powerful and conveys Celine's inner struggle about accepting Rumi, though I always felt like something was missing.

This storyboard gives us a different version of this quote, and it's so much better that I hate it isn't canon. "Everything I've been taught told me what your mother did was wrong, but what came from it was you and you were so... right."

I understand that during the movie, Rumi and Celine aren't exactly discussing Miyeong's actions, so using it wouldn't really work. But I wish they would've used it. It cements what I've been wanting to believe ever since I watched this movie: Celine loved Rumi so deeply that she did everything she did out of fear and mixed feelings. She was afraid of losing Rumi, afraid of her being hurt by other hunters, afraid of her demon side taking over... She was so afraid she ended up doing the only thing she could, telling Rumi to hide the side that put her at risk and she couldn't really accept.

it’s so special to me that so much of fan culture is textual analysis for the love of the game. like thank god there are people in my phone who are also thinking about this thing i love so much that they are writing transformative fiction as character studies and setting clips of the show to music with theme-relevant lyrics and writing long text posts analyzing every line of dialogue like!! yay!!!

the way i interpret most rumi & jinu scenes is everything they say to each other is actually about themselves & i feel like that can add a lot of appreciation to their scenes that some people dont have

rumi "you can be better than this" is "because if you're redeemable so am I"

jinu "you're a demon. all you deserve is misery and pain" is "i cant be saved, even when i tried my best i failed. there is no hope"

the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.

I just saw an anon come into a gif-maker’s ask box and start with the phrase: “I’m trying not to spam your inbox with reblogs, but” and then go on to say how much they love the gifs.

But I’m still stuck on that opening phrase because…what? I am so confused by how people view interactions on tumblr & AO3 these days. Let me make it very clear for anyone who is unsure:

CREATORS WANT YOU TO INTERACT WITH THEIR WORK.

The limit does not exist on how many of their works you can interact with in a certain period.

If you like every fic they’ve ever written? Then feel free to give them all kudos and even leave a comment on every single one if you feel inclined! If you’re going through someone’s blog and you vibe with every post, like/reblog to your heart’s content!

As long as you’re not expecting something back from them or adding a ton of irrelevant comments, it’s not spam! It’s what this is all about!! I’m not even much of a creator and I still feel a huge sense of pride when I see a ton of notifications in a row from a person, as it clearly shows they thought my blog was worth spending time on.

And if for some reason a creator is annoyed by this (unlikely), they can manage their own experience (turn off notifs, not look at their notes, delete the fic, etc) -- so don’t deprive the majority of creators because of some imagined annoyed person. Fandom is a collaborative effort and we all must participate!

I know I can be such a hypocrite on this (I’ve been nervous to submit asks or comments!) but comments and asks literally make my day? I am constantly vibrating with the effort of not spontaneously word vomiting about my work?? So being given permission to ramble and gush and thank the people who love it is just the literal best!

I write the stories that I do for myself, first and foremost, but I won’t lie it feels good that other people appreciate it too:)

No new chapter today! Sorry guys! And I may or may not be taking a little bit of another hiatus for a bit.

Why?

Life is a lot. I’m doing so much better than I was a few months ago (thank goodness), but uhhhh I’ve caught up to the point of the story where it is very much still under construction. I’m a full time student and still navigating a lot of mental and physical health challenges that have made it difficult to write as much as I would like to. (Darn responsibilities keeping me from what’s important!)

So what does this mean?

This means I am working hard to finish up this last leg of the story! I really don’t think it will take me much longer but I’m not able to put an exact time on it. (I have a bunch of chapters written but like I said it’s veryyyy WIP right now lol) But! Next time WiL updates it should have a final chapter count!
