acrylic, canvas 100 * 70 cm «jellyfish» 2018.
One of my very old paintings, from the time when I had just started learning acrylics. Back then I didn’t even know gel medium existed.
I was still trying to paint acrylic the way I painted with oils-creating long blends, soft transitions, and transparent layers. But acrylic had other plans. It dried so quickly that I was constantly wondering what was happening, and as the colors dried darker, I struggled to judge the depth and values.
I also made the ambitious decision to use such a large canvas for what was essentially a learning piece. Looking back, that was probably a little too optimistic.
Even so, this painting has stayed with me. It still stands in the hallway of my home, quietly reminding me of that stage when every painting was an experiment and every mistake taught me something new.
I don’t know what its future will be, but for now, it still has its place at home. 💙
Clipart Studio lets you cut up magazines sourced from the Internet Archive, images from Wikimedia Commons, & files you’ve uploaded, and create art collages from them. This is great — be sure to check out the gallery.
I think the reason I still enjoy tumblr is that even though this all still pisses me off, I know that anything that makes me mad on here is 100% earnest. It's not ragebait or engagement farming, y'all are actually just that stupid sometimes
learn to associate cleaning with pride instead of shame and your quality of life will improve in ways you can't even imagine btw
like I'm sympathetic, it's hard work, it takes some degree of mental organisation and physical capacity that is not equally accessible to every human being on earth. I know. but regardless of how much you can do and how often, you will get better results across the board if you can frame it as positive effort towards a better situation instead of perpetually self flagellating for having the sin of being a solid thing in physical space that steadily accumulates dirt no matter what just like everything else on earth

Was trying to make a joke about TV writing to my friend the other day and had to pause and go "...does the phrase 'surf dracula' mean anything to you?"
One of the most important critical texts of this century imo
image description: tweet by @/topherflorence, reading: back in the day if u did a tv show called surf dracula you'd see that fool surfing every week in new adventures but in the streaming era the entire 1st season gotta be a long ass flashback to how he got the surfboard until you finally get to see him surf for 5 min in the finale /end description

this hank green character has appeared in things i’ve seen over the years despite never seeing any of the source material that he makes and each time i am blown away by how utterly charisma-less this person is. then i remember many of you are terminally white
finding a pedantic smiling white person to be charming especially in areas that seemingly are not at all their expertise and instead like a google scholar based trivial pursuit card deck is a character flaw
[Getting so angry it makes my brain disease worse] people sre supposed to be nice..
