the look of love (from todayās magma session)
for his bday i want to appreciate one of the most subtly endearing moments in the show from him - he uses a green crayon to draw fireballs because he ran out of red and orange. he doesn't ask for new crayons from his mom who he knows is struggling with money. he just happily improvised with it being green. he was happy with his ghostbusters costume being homemade while all his friends got store-bought stuff. i would have loved if they went into more detail surrounding the byers' poverty/working-class status but they basically ignored it post-season 2
the way everyone reduced his character to a joke talking about his bowl cut and saying shit like "the bowl cut was holding him back" in sorcerer when his and jonathan's haircuts (and el's in s4) as well as their oversized and slightly out of style clothes were because joyce couldn't afford to give them real haircuts and new clothes and ppl just brush over that fact and essentially make fun of him because his family was poor and that's the best his mum could do. it makes me so mad actually
the birthday party he deserved ā¤ļøā𩹠happy birthday, Will Byers
In my mind it takes place during their college spring break!
I've waited a whole month to finally share this! He would've been the same age as my dad and I'm not quite sure how to feel about this

"mike is a top" "mike is a bottom" oka butwht happened to "mike is a loser" "mike is a stupid little bitch boy with a gay little crush" hm? hm??? have we lost the sacred texts?
not to fandom police but personally I think people should have to become more comfortable with gender noncomformity before being allowed to gender bend characters
āYou always think Iām a good person. Iām probably not.ā
This is a line from my fanfic, this is Will to Mike and this line kinda encapsulates byler for me.
You see, I wanted to go back and edit that line. Will has low self-esteem, of course, he would think he's not a good person. I wanted to rewrite him to say "I'm not" and keep him more in character, but then I realized why the "probably" is there.
Will cannot negate Mike's ideal of him. He simply cannot. He never does. Even if he doesn't believe in himself, he cannot negate Mike's innate belief in him.
Mike says he's a super spy, he says "you really think so?", Mike says he's a sorcerer, he laughs at first but then sighs and says "oh". He considers it. He never says he's not those things, not one on one to Mike. Sure he brushes it off in front of Lucas and even downplays his actions to Max and Robin. But when it's just him and Mike, Mike complimenting him sincerely, Will cannot help but admit to the possibility of it.
He never directly says to Mike "hey I'm not a sorcerer" because he half-way believes in it. But this belief comes mostly from Mike. He believes in Mike so irrevocably that Mike's belief in him overrides his own self-concept. Mike's love and view of him makes believe in himself. AHHH.
just found out about will byers. is anyone else talking about will byers this could be huge
