i was talking to my friend a couple weeks ago. and i said ‘the sunset should’ve left the dreaming city and the moon alone. i miss those weapons’ and like a week later bungie said they will be back next season. said you have to grind for them too. now that’s no issue for me. i love the dungeons and i love the activities that you can do to get them. but it sparked so much uproar with people who play. i understand wanting to keep your old rolls. i have a really good vouchesafe, and i had a really good waking vigil.

but the amount of people i had seen say ‘oh i want the dreaming city and the moon weapons back!’ and then a full 180 because they have do what? 4 activists a couple times to get them back? idk.

bungie gives the players exactly what they want, and the players then give bungie shit back

Another thing that ticks me off about this in particular is the use of the word "grind" in a completely wrong way to make this look worse than it is.

At this point, Destiny community is using the word "grinding" as a synonym for "playing the game."

Playing Altars of Sorrow and getting the weapon from the final chest isn't "grinding." Doing a dungeon isn't grinding. Roaming the location, doing lost sectors and public events isn't grinding. It's simply playing the video game.

Now, do you sometimes need to put a lot of time to get the roll you want? Sure. It's still not grinding because these weapons drop so often that you're statistically guaranteed to get it simply by playing the game as you normally would.

The problem these reddit pvp dudes have is that they despise pve because they think it's beneath them and they ultimately just don't like Destiny as a game. They want the perfect crutch god roll weapon to appear in their inventory so they can dunk on noobs in the Crucible and putting any effort into acquiring those weapons is seen as excruciating "grind" when the rest of us just see at normal gameplay. I remember no small amount of times when I'd just load up to Altars of Sorrow, play them for like an hour to finish catalysts or bounties and I'd go back to the Tower and there were like 17 Apostate snipers in my postmaster. Wow. Such grind.

Reddit pvp dudebros, your experiences are not universal. It's also clear that y'all never played anything that isn't pvp. You didn't leave thousands of hours in MMOs and old games where there was ACTUAL grind in its original sense of the word.

And you know what, good. Grinding is not good game design. But y'all have to learn that what we have in Destiny isn't grind. It's just gameplay. Like, legit you just have to play a video game for an hour and you'll get your weapon. Pve content can be fun, I promise you.
