Something interesting is how you could be led to believe that the reason Ferdinand has a blue cape instead of yellow is because he's a blue robed priest. The reader has little reason to suspect the truth about his blue cloak's origin. The prologue of this volume does mention that Ferdinand joined the temple to escape assassination, but that's all we really know about his situation at this point.

Sky Ladder by Cai Guo-Qiang. The Sky Ladder was unveiled in 2016 over Quanzhou, China. It burned for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. It was the artist’s fourth and final attempt, as previous attempts had met only varying degrees of success. The artist says he had dreamt of a fire ladder 21 years prior and was very excited to see it come to life.

I'm responding now specifically to the phrase "most media", as in "most media is so cheap, bland, recycled, and sponsored by people who love money more than the source material."

If you like supporting artists making things purely for the love of the game, I would highly encourage you to seek out and support indie authors as well!

I get what the screenshots are trying to say about mass-produced mainstream media, but I do want to point out that there are still many, many artists and writers out there who are working hard and making pennies... And it is worth pointing out that fanfic of the mass-produced, mainstream media still often encourages more focus and attention (and therefore more financial support) to be directed right back to the mass-produced, mainstream canon.

By all means love the fanfic authors, support and celebrate the fanfic authors -- but please leave some room for indie authors too, and don't paint them all with the same brush as the most recent Disney live-action-reboot money-grab.

There are GREAT people out there writing GREAT stuff directly from the heart and with no marketing budget. And so many of them are struggling to find readers that having even one passionate fan could change their lives.

(And if you've heard that all indie books are garbage, or pulpy trash, or whatever--if you've got this notion in your head that an indie book can't possibly be GOOD--then please reflect on the fact that you've been lied to, mostly by the mass-produced, mainstream media that wants to maintain their cultural hegemony by discrediting the growing number of authors who are slowly upending the business model.)

"Most media" isn't "all media". Indie authors are a cousin-in-solidarity to the fanfic authors.

You ever think about how Luo Binghe, often characterized as someone who kills ruthlessly in fanfiction, has never killed a single person "on screen" in canon. He has no confirmed kills. Even of the people he had all the right to want dead, Mobei-jun and Sha Hualing and the freaking Old Palace Master, he killed none of them. He fought Liu Qingge for years and never killed the man. Even when people blamed him for Shen Qingqiu's death, he wasn't at fault for the core detonation.

Contrast that with Shen Qingqiu, who kills the skinner demon, big hammer demon, suggests burning the sowers, etc...

I get that it's a stereotype that emperors, especially demon emperors, are heavy handed with capital punishment, but Luo Binghe is a LOT more merciful than people give him credit for.
