you are not immune to inventing an arbitrary set of rules that only you have to adhere to
used to think it terribly silly (and kinda funny) when fantasy or sci-fi stories would have people refer to major recent historical events as The Flood or The Incident or The Revolution, and im sure historians fucking hate that because it's not helpful or descriptive, but we sure do be calling it The Pandemic
Also the new linguistic quirk of just saying “it was 2020” as like. The full end of a story. You say “it was 2020” and everyone knows what you mean.
“I was going to get my masters degree but then it was 2020, so yeah”
“I was cast in a play and then it was 2020”
“my boyfriend proposed but then it was 2020”
I am currently finishing up some training in work, and the topic is on helping international students to avoid culture shock. They have just presented me with this graphic:
They've captioned it with "This is a bit of fun but it highlights the underlying point" but I am now completely stuck on "I'm sure it's my fault" - "It's your fault" - "Why do they think it was their fault?" as an interaction

if fallout 76 really is a world where “every character is a real person” & there’s no NPCs im making it my civic duty to be like this lowly tavern barkeep and then once i’ve established enough of a rapport i’m going to nuke all of west virginia and it will be in character
someone help where’s the screenshot of some post somewhere about the mmo player who barkept for a longass time then fucked absolutely everyone over
This one?
i just wanna do nothinggggg 😭😭😭😭😭 which is like what im already doing but i wanna do it in a way that doesnt actively ruin my life 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
How long did it take them to figure out that it could actually be done? That's staggering.
[Video is titled, "four cellists play Ravel's Bolero." It's on Classic fM. They all play on the same cello, with the drum part is played by plucking strings. Two of them do small comedy fights in the background between their parts, trying to take the other's place beside the cello. It's a pretty tight fit, and at some points there are four bows almost touching as they all saw the strings.
Text on the screen reads,
four cellists play Ravel's Bolero ... on just one cello. Bolero has long been a test of endurance for snare drummers, but here, every part is played by a cellist. With only one instrument in sight, Wiener Cello Ensemble 5 + 1 leap to the task, involving a fair amount of acrobatics! Watch it all unfold ...

Thank you for that fine forensic analysis, Mr. Bodine. Of course the experience of it was... Somewhat different.
