listen up, theater and literature kids

my english teacher assigned us a macbeth project and me, being the work hater i am told her i’d rather rewrite a scene from macbeth as if it was written in 2020 (analyze theme and metaphors, keep them consistent while modernizing it, showcase my writing and grammar, blah blah blah blah ...)

now here’s the kicker. i’ve never read macbeth. in my life. all i know is that its a dude who witches tell him to kill his uncle, he’s too much of a chicken so his wife does it instead and ghosts haunt his guilt.

here i ask for ur help. whats a cool/ur fav scene from macbeth that’d be fun to rewrite/ok for a school project?

adrien didn’t fall in love with ladybug because she’s perfect. he saw her flaws and doubts and insecurities from day one.

literally the first time they met she crashed into him and admitted to being “madly clumsy,” and he immediately accepted that and encouraged her. then while he was trying to fight stoneheart alone, she was hesitating on the sidelines. she didn’t come help until alya called, “what are you waiting for, super red bug?”

then when they had to battle stoneheart again later, she was really discouraged and frustrated with herself because she had messed up, and she even said, “I knew I wasn’t the right one for this job.” And he reassured her and encouraged her and reminded her of what she had done right and made it clear that she wasn’t alone—that they were a team, and they had to trust each other. It was only then—after showing her vulnerability to Chat Noir—that Ladybug was able to stand up to Hawkmoth with that inspirational speech. And it was only then that Chat Noir said, “Whoever she is under that mask, I love that girl.”

He didn’t fall for her because she was flawless. He fell for her because she had flaws and still tried her hardest because she knew it was the right thing to do. He didn’t fall for her because she was fearless. He fell for her because she had fears and chose to face them because people needed her. He didn’t fall for her because she because she was self-assured. He fell for her because she showed that she had doubts and insecurities and she still chose to step up and make a stand against evil. And isn’t that what real courage is? “Not the absence of fear, but rather the assessment something else is more important than fear.”

tldr; adrien loves ladybug not because she’s perfect but because she is brave enough to face and work past her imperfections

He was reading the books of Ibn Al Haytham, an Arab Muslim from Iraq, who pioneered the scientific method, discovered gravity and wrote about the laws governing the movement of bodies (now known as Newtons three laws of motion) some 600 years before Newton existed. Without him, modern science as we know it wouldn’t exist. Read on him. His achievements are far greater than what I’ve just mentioned here.

Hell, women *should* be the ones studying the female body, would you rather a woman see your female relatives, or some old man? GABRIEL AGRESTE DOESN’T DESPISE HIS SON.

I know it sounds crazy after Chat Blanc but hear me out.

We saw earlier the whole scene in “The Collector” with Gabriel going “Where is my son? He’s the most precious thing! Nothing must happen to him!” or whatever. We also see when he joins Adrien on the piano so they can play together. We also see him leave his house (!!!) in “The Queen’s Battle” to go and hug his son after he saw the danger he was in, and almost (almost) gave up being Hawkmoth for Adrien’s safety.

So no, I don’t think Gabriel hates Adrien. He loves him, so much, and it is proven multiple times.

“What about Chat Blanc?!” you may scream. “He played baseball with his son!!! He manipulated and hurt him!!!”

You’re right! Gabriel does love Adrien, BUT when it came to choosing between Adrien and Emilie, Gabriel loved Emilie more, and didn’t hesitate in choosing her over Adrien. I’m not saying it’s ok - Gabriel is after all a pretty messed up person - but it’s what makes sense; he just doesn’t love his son as much as his wife.

Alright, cool, now we have that out of the way ... this leads me to another theory:

Gabriel doesn’t love Adrien.

“Dammit, now you’re being ridiculous!” you may now be yelling. “Is this a paradox or something?!”

Perhaps. But look:

We saw how OBSESSED Gabriel is with getting his wife back. We saw the sacrifices he made and the risks he took just to beat LB and CN. That man can be described as crazy, no doubt. His immovable and unhealthy love may have crossed its bounds ...

... and poor Adrien has to suffer because of it.

Maybe Gabriel doesn’t love Adrien because he’s his son or for his own person. Maybe he “loves” him because of the Emilie in him. He has his mother’s eyes, smile, hair - he is a carbon copy. Maybe Gabriel “loves” Adrien because it’s the only thing he has left of Emilie, or because it’s the closest thing he’ll get. Maybe that’s why he was so intent on “nothing happening to [Adrien]” in “The Collector”. Adrien is temporarily holding Emilie’s place, not because he’s his son but because he’s her son.

(You know, kind of similar to the way Severus Snape protected Harry Potter purely for the Lily [Evans] in him, and would have cared less about the boy if it wasn’t Lily’s.)

And I think that’s pretty creepy, but if you ask me Gabriel is a creepy man.
