It’s year 2028 and they announced a Look Outside live action. It will be directed and written by a bunch of white men under Blumhouse productions. No they didn’t consult the devs for the writing.
Sam - renamed Michael - is a conventionally handsome 20 something year old man. He’s also a couple shades lighter than his original skintone.
The vfx, cgi, lighting, and set is actually super fucking amazing but it will get criticized regardless because of bad writing. Non-LO fans who will see the movie will call it “woke” because of the diverse cast even though that’s canon to the game. Actually scratch that, they whitewashed Jeanne and the tooth family. They kept Dan and Leigh POC though, because they need comic reliefs. They de-butched Hellen a couple notches down just enough to be both girlboss and dudebro fanservice.
They will probably add a mary sue OC to be Sam’s love interest and it’s going to set aside the party members’ character arcs to make screentime for the OC. It’s going to be an insufferable time for everyone.
They either remove Xaria and Monty entirely or kill them seconds after they appear because the writers don’t want to risk getting bashed for mischaracterizing punks. Colonel Squeakums is given the corniest one liners once Sam gets the rusty crown. Ernest is just gonna be there as a filler in the background until the movie kills him off in a scene where he self sacrifices holding off the rats chasing after them. The Rock is casted as Papineau. Mr. Henderson will stay poc to check off the aggressive black man trope.
The Astronomers are all casted white to check off the white saviors trope. Facetaker will painfully be so obvious it’s the fake one due to cinematography overtelling. The Nestor, Rafta, and Eugene side quest is probably the only thing they will write correctly and the vfx and post prod department is gonna handle it meticulously, but that’s only because they have The Thing to get references from.
They removed Lyle’s attraction to Sam and made it seem like he just finds him cool and wants his approval like a younger brother would. Shadow is going to be rewritten as a traitor, gaining Sam’s trust and trying to kill him later in the apartment with intent - removing any genuity of it learning boundaries. It turns out Shadow and the other Shades are agents of the Visitor - gasp! - the Visitor is an evil alien! The Visitor’s motives? uhhh that’s up for fan interpretation because mystery is cool! (writers don’t know themselves)
Despite having many endings, the movie writers somehow manage not to choose from any of them. They wrote a whole new ending: the Visitor has some sort of weakness seeing itself being depicted (Sam will probably have a corny oneliner like “You’ve always looked outside, but never looked inside” or some shit) and so Sam and the Astronomers defeat it by showing those items and making it leave.
Sam stays human, years later in an epilogue, they were able to concoct a “cure” from their body mutation. And so the monsters all turned back human and they all smiled to each other before the screen cuts to black and the credits roll -
There’s an after credits scene. Society is rebuilding, and the world is still a mess. There’s a rising tension among the human groups and monster groups as they try to survive. Could this be hinting…
You open reddit and there’s a hundred threads discussing the possibility of a sequel. The sequel is going to be a human vs human and human vs monster dystopian survival action film, Mad-Max type shit, far removed from the original but who cares, lets milk this indie game
