"Gettin' a Hand on the Future", i guess? machine pieced the diamonds and machine applique'd the hand, but the flower itself is done by hand. also hand quilted! the brown diamonds were naturally dyed using cutch and madder, and there are a few other naturally dyed fabrics in the rest of the patchwork. the backing (not photographed) was dyed with goldenrod!

Fish bag sample for classes this spring/summer

instantly enamoured with this bag so decided to make a similar one! i thought the drawstring looked a litlte like barbels, and so I modeled mine loosely on a redtail catfish!

I'd meant to make the mouth opening a little larger than it turned out, but I can still fit my whole forearm in there so I'm pleased.

The April installment of my Block of the Month quilt. These “Arches” blocks were my first time doing appliqué. The pattern gave instructions for both hand and machine appliqué, but because the sampler quilt won’t have a lot of appliqué overall and because it’s just two blocks, I went with hand appliqué. I don’t know that it’s my favorite technique ever, but I am pleased with my result. For the fabric selection I kept to my scrappy look and tried my best to find “in between” colors for the overlapping parts to give the illusion of transparency. I think I did a pretty good job for sticking to the scraps I had, especially with the ones adjacent to the yellow spider web fabric.

playing around with some more radial-symmetry socks and man i'm so happy with how these turned out :D might do some more tweaking but i think i've got the basic structure ironed out!

(also i'm working on writing up a proper pattern for these and would love to get some feedback/concrit, so if you'd like to give these a test knit, lmk and i'll send you a draft of the pattern!)

Seconding Niebling with a handy link to my favourite blog. Pick literally any random name off this list and look at the charts in horror and awe.

Herzblatt is a great smallish doily to dip your toes into the pain and misery and is absolutely gorgeous besides, though Sechsblatt is a lot simpler and less likely to cause an individual to spontaneously combust.

And for my end-of-pride-month craft project this year, here is my mini progress flag quilt!!

It was a ton of fun, and a great way to use up some random charm packs I had no idea what to do with 😆. Soon it will be a wall hanging for my door!!

It’s postage-stamp-ish (1.5” squares, because the charms I started with were 4” that I cut into quarters) here’s the unquilted top:

It’s hard to see, but the quilt lines are horizontal on the striped part and are chevrons on the arrow part!!

I was going to make the pattern all pretty to share but I ran out of time, so have my messy handwritten one.

I should use yarn ties for quilting more often, I think it took longer to iron than it did to quilt it and do the binding
