Crested Pigeon, Exmouth WA.
I love these guys, but back home in Perth they aren't particularly common and have eluded me when it comes to trying to get a nice photo. They are without a doubt the most common bird in Exmouth however, they're everywhere and very unafraid. So it was nice being able to get my photos of them finally.
Black-necked Stilt (Himantopus mexicanus). Family Recurvirostridae, order Charadriiformes.
These birds have got to be 90% leg. ALL LEG.

Speaking of gay ducks that reminded me of when me and one of my partners (#mypolycule) went to the park for a hangout before we started actually dating and we saw a group of mallards. The group consisted of one female and three males. They were all hanging out and being chill UNTIL!!! the female and two of the males pushed the third one out. Then the girl and her two boyfriends continued about their day together. So we saw duck polycule drama firsthand.
That was a tough day for us all. I have nothing to add... here are 3 of my favorite ducks.

Baby bird season is over for this fine young goose, but there's a whole life of being a Very Handsome Fellow ahead... When he's a bit more awake.

Following up the gay mallards, can we have lesbian gulls for pride?
(I'm sorry the lack of sexual plumage dimorphism makes this more difficult)
A repost of a popular post from last year!!
THIS TOO IS YURI?!?!?!
FLY HIIIIGGGHHHH LESBIAN SEAGULLS!!!
Radio Lab: The Seagulls
In the 1970s, as LGBTQ+ people in the United States faced conservatives whose top argument was that homosexuality is “unnatural,” a pair of young scientists discovered on a tiny island off the coast of California a colony of seagulls that included… a significant number of female homosexual couples making nests and raising chicks together. The article that followed upended the culture’s understanding of what’s natural and took the discourse on homosexuality in a whole new direction. In this episode, our co-Host Lulu Miller grapples with the impact of this and several other studies about animal queerness on her life as a queer person. Special thanks to the History is Gay Posdcast
