i personally find jimin and joons dynamic so interesting and sweet and this fic captures it so well. their characters are so different but they fit perfectly together and the way their relationship slowly develops is heartwarming. as someone who is a little awkward about physical affection (-_- ;) i love fics where a character (usually joon) gets all the cuddles they need even when they are a little shy/hesitant in the beginning.

sometimes i like to read things that feel more real. things that are maybe a little less perfect than fiction tends to be.

i think spicynom does a really good job of this in their fic ‘a quiet truth’. it’s a bit shorter than what i’d usually recommend but it kinda stuck with me because it felt really genuine and warm even though it was a little sad.

it might resonate more with people who have experienced coming out (or being come out to), but i feel like you can still appreciate and empathise with the emotions the characters are feeling, the author does really well at capturing the moment and all of its imperfections and heart.

a little bit about my fic-consuming habits 😊

my first bts fic was ‘a gilded world’ by smiles but i’ve been reading fics from other fandoms for YEARS

i pretty much read any pairing - concept is more important for me - but i have phases where i read a lot of a certain pairing for a little while

ships i tend to read less of are taekook, yoonmin and jikook (but i still read them sometimes!!)

i want this blog to focus on more soft fics but that’s definitely not all that i read haha

another one where i’m just so in love with the author. so basically read any of their works, but recently i’ve been obsessed with #CompletelyUnexpectedTrueIdentity by Mother of Pearl (not an exaggeration, every week i stay up waiting for the email notif for the update) (so gutted it’s almost over)

so in love with namkook in this!! it’s got some really funny moments but it’s also super sweet and emotional. very slow burn but very worth it..

short summary they meet while role-playing online and feelings and mishaps happen i’m not gonna say any more but i have so many feelings about it pls read

does anyone else come up with interesting ideas for writing that they get really excited about and start making a whole plot and character backgrounds and dream up particular scenes and lines but you open a new document to start writing it and you end up with maybe 200 words and nothing more ever again?

i could sit here and recommend anything/everything by nonheather but i’ll limit myself to one i read more recently.

it’s always the fics with the unique summaries and concepts that really stick with me, and this is one of them.

jk is a missionary for what is essentially a cult, and he meets seokjin. he is determined to ‘save’ him from the oncoming end of the world but things don’t really go to plan. i am in love with the way this author writes seokjin especially, but all the characters feel very genuine and multi-dimensional.

maybe avoid this one if discussion of faith upsets you! it personally doesn’t bother me but i’m not religious and i can kind of relate to the characters and their journeys.

i love the format of the flashbacks and emails alongside the story, it really helps you to understand the complexity of their feelings

i’m so proud of them 🥰🏳️‍🌈
