Tell us something that made you happy yesterday. So…I actually ran my first 5k! I wasn't planning on doing an "official" 5k until mid-October because there's one for the shelter and that felt like a decent length of time to get ready. However, my dad and I were at the nature center yesterday morning; we were just going to do our own thing, but through a series of serendipitous events, we ended up joining in with a run club. I'm so glad I took the chance and just went for it because it ended up being so much fun. I did walk a little bit and even stopped very briefly to take a couple of photos along the course (one such photo is posted above), but I ran the majority of it and was quite proud of myself. :')
What were you up to at 8 am earlier today? I was at the animal shelter. Probably in the midst of getting things ready or cleaning in the front of iso.
What were you doing 15 minutes ago? I was in bed watching something on YouTube.
The last thing you said out loud. I'm not sure.
The last thing someone said to you. Also not sure, but I know it would have been my dad who said it.
What have you been drinking today? Tea with breakfast, Gatorade, and water. The shelter was so hot and humid that I think I legit needed that Gatorade.
What was the last thing you ate? Crockpot stew, to which I added some vegan meatballs, lettuce, and a drizzle of sriracha sauce.
What was the last thing you bought? We picked up my prescription migraine meds on Thursday, if you want to count that. They were only 1.60$.
What’s the color of your front door? The main door is white and then there's a wrought iron type of door which is black.
What’s the weather like outside? Around 95F.
Your favorite ice cream flavor. I seriously can't choose. I had some pistachio ice cream just recently, though. It probably wouldn't rank among my favorite flavors, but it was quite nice.
Who was the last person to call you? My dad.
Who was the last person you called? Probably my doctor's office.
Do you believe in love at first sight? Naw.
Do you sleep deeply? Not usually.
Do you have nightmares? Sometimes.
Do you like your job? Oh gosh. I had to clean out a kennel smeared with poop the other day and I was just like…I love my job. I love what I do. I love crawling inside the poop cave. ;D But in all seriousness, I wouldn't volunteer as frequently as I do if I didn't get some level of fulfillment out of it. It's definitely a labor of love and I couldn't imagine my life without it.
Your favorite outfit? I don't really have one.
Your favorite song at the moment? Also don't really have one.
Who was the last person to sleep in your bed? Meee.
What do you see when you turn your head to the right? A water bottle.
What are you planning to do next? Have a snack and read some more from the Bible. I'm sooo close to being finished. I think I've got less than 75 pages to go, and they're not even full pages because there's typically a lot of space taken up for commentary, which I don't always read.
Are you right or left handed? Right-handed.
Current mood: Generally good.
Favorite candy: Chocolate.
Clothes you wear at the moment: Black sweatpants and two t-shirts.
Summer plans: The fundraising event for the shelter is coming up this Friday. Other than that, I don't really have any major plans. Maybe go to the Chili & Frijole Festival in September, which would technically be on the cusp of autumn, but idk yet. I'll see if I'm feeling up to it.
How many pillows do you sleep with? One body pillow and one pillow for between my knees.
Cozy evening in or a night out at the club? Cozy evening in.
Do you play any instrument? No.
Are you a morning or a night person? Morning person.
What’s most important for you? My dad, my cats, volunteering, my best friend, nature, and (most recently) running.
Are you ticklish? I'm not sure. It's been forever since someone tried to tickle me. I guess I'm not very ticklish under basic circumstances, though?
Do you snore? Maybe occasionally.
Zodiac sign: Pisces.
The creepiest, most disgusting insect in the world is: Not an insect, but I cannot with scorpions.
Messy or tidy: I'm more on the messy side.
What are you looking forward to right now? Relaxing.
Tuesday, July 14th, 2026.
Do you have a moustache; If so, do you like it, and if not, would you want one? I don't, nor would I want one.
Have you ever woven anything together, and if so, what was it? Just childhood crafts like "God's Eyes."
Have you ever wore a crown as part of an outfit or play-pretend? I'm just going to assume I have at some point. I know I've worn Burger King crowns.
Do you tend to like murky places? That depends on what you mean by murky, but it does kind of fall under my appreciation for gloomy weather and dreary landscapes.
Does your area or country get any deer, and have you ever saw any in real life? It does. Sometimes you can see them down by the creek, which isn't far from where I live. They also hang out around the animal shelter, and I see them there pretty frequently.
Have you ever felt pierced through the heart (either in a good or bad way)? Yes, in both good and bad ways.
Have you had the chance to pet or feel a starfish? Not a living one, as far as I can recall, but dead and dried ones, yes.
Do you consider yourself reckless, and do you want to change that? In some ways, but I wouldn't consider myself a reckless person in general. The way it tends to manifest nowadays is through pushing myself too hard when I should probably rest and recover instead.
What's the heaviest thing you can remember needing to carry? I've lifted around 200lbs (in the form of a person), but regarding something I needed to carry, I would say pellet litter or cat food bags at the shelter. They're around 30-40lbs.
Which part of the house do you most enjoy sweeping, and which part do you most detest? Can't say I really enjoy sweeping.
Have you even been stung by anything, and if so, what was it? A wasp as a baby and two bees during childhood (once on my arm and once on the underside of my foot).
What's your opinions on shredded cheese? I like it and use it regularly?
What drink do you usually consider a 'breakfast drink'? Black coffee or tea. I'm not really up for creamy coffee first thing in the morning.
Have you ever rode in the trunk of a car as a child? I haven't.
Do you have any ragged clothes or toys that you should get rid of, but aren't? Yeah.
What's the last thing you really felt like you blundered on? Okay, so…it came to my attention almost a couple of months ago now that volunteering wasn't actually keeping me in any sort of shape and that a portion of my fatigue was probably due to being extremely unfit, so I decided to do something about it. I figured I would take up running and do this 5k for the shelter in October. For the first few days, I was loving it and things felt amazing, so I pushed myself way harder than my body was capable of handling. I ended up messing up my knees, which are on the mend now, but I lost a lot of strength and coordination as a result. A few weeks after that first incident, I pushed myself too hard yet again and the pain came back, but thankfully it was less intense. I'm also dealing with some relatively minor aches in my feet. I think…well, no, I know I was just entirely too idealistic and naive about what I was asking my body to do. Like, I don't just have a basic lack of fitness, I have a negative level of fitness from everything my body has endured over the years. Couch to 5k? Naw. More like grave to 5k, lmao. I'm still trying to figure out the right level of activity that my body can reasonably absorb and build upon while resisting the urge to keep pushing. It also led me to this realization that running is counterintuitive to the mindset I've had over the past few years. It's always been about pushing through; about showing up with the fatigue, the migraines, the inner turmoil, the fear and anxiety, etc. Ignoring pain for the sake of progress and consistency. I have a lot of "just grit your teeth and get through it" energy, but as it turns out, running demands the opposite. Like, what do you mean I can't just push through the suffering? That's all I know. Anyway, I'm still kind of blundering my way towards something that is hopefully sustainable because I actually do really enjoy running and would love to be able to do more of it in a responsible way. Still planning on doing that 5k and…who knows what else in the more distant future. I guess I'll just have to see what my body allows.
Do you prefer cozy, rustic places, or more ornate, fancy ones? Cozy and rustic.
When was the last time you made a deal with someone, and did you both hold up your ends of it? Hellen, you still owe me that crispy 2026 quarter. No, TWO crispy 2026 quarters. ;P
Have you ever traveled to the Arctic; and if not, would you want to? I haven't, but it sounds like something I could enjoy.
Would you say you had rivals in your childhood? Not really.
When was the last time you would say you had a blast? June 28th. Frickin' WESTERN STATES. I'm still bummed about Hans DNFing, but he's participating in CCC on August 28th. It's a golden ticket race, so if he places well enough, then he'll be guaranteed a spot in next year's WSER! >:') Also, finally something to look forward to during the summer months. Merry Statesmas.
How often do you wear clothing that needs to be buttoned up? Almost never.
Did you like catching fireflies as a kid? The only time I've ever seen fireflies was as a teen while staying in Pennsylvania. Not sure if I ever caught one, though.
Did you go to school with rowdy classmates, or were they more calm? Relatively calm, I guess, for the most part.
When's the last you felt like you were in an inferno? Any time I get in my car to drive back for my afternoon shifts at the shelter. Also, not exactly an inferno because it's so humid, but cleaning in iso.
Name three things you feel are puzzling you in your life as of late: EhhHhhh.
Opinion on onions? Lol, I'm just thinking about how Liv messed up that "onion rings" joke and I grew body builder abs from laughing so hard.
Were you ever scared of skeletons as a kid? Naw.
What's one of the most valuable lessons you think someone has taught you in life? Internal locus of control. Also, how to manage your thoughts so that they're productive rather than destructive. Both are still a WIP.
Do you prefer to gather at more populous places with a friend group, or vacant places no one goes to or knows? I HATE seeing people in my VACANT PLACES. ;D
If you were to make up an official award for yourself, what would it be for and what would it look like? Fastest Pooper Scooper in the West. And ofc it would be a golden poop scoop.
Saturday, July 11th, 2026.
What’s the latest youtube channel you’ve discovered and binge-watched? I haven't exactly been binge watching any channel in particular, but I have gotten really into running over the past few weeks. Just in time to at least slightly familiarize myself with a few names and get super hyped over Western States 100, which took place on June 28th. I spent most of the day watching that livestream and omg what an emotional roller coaster. It turned out to be a record-breaking year for both male and female runners. Mah boy Hans Troyer DNFed tho. :'( Hardrock 100 is also going on atm; it started yesterday morning at 6:00am. Another record-breaking race with Ludovic Pommeret finishing in first and Courtney Dauwalter finishing first in women's and 5th place overall. Hella! Looking forward to Leadville 100 for sure, but there might be a few more races that I will watch in between. AHHH!!!! Sports.
What’s one thing that makes your shoulders hurt? The only thing I can think of is backpacking, but I haven't done that in ages.
Does it snow where you live? It does, but we didn't get very much snow last winter, which was a bummer.
Do you think your hair looks better long or short? I'm not sure which way looks better, but I prefer it short.
Do you look best with or without bangs? I guess with some sort of bangs.
What stereotype would you say you fit the most? I don't even know anymore. I just kind of exist.
Do you enjoy editing photos on your phone? I wouldn't say I enjoy editing them, but I do prefer to edit them to get a particular vibe. It's just basic IG stuff, though.
What’s your favorite thing to do on your phone? Watch YouTube.
Which season do you wish would last longer? Autumn. I get a sense of panic mixed with sadness mixed with nostalgia because I feel like I don't have enough time to fully appreciate it.
Do you like the name Eliana? It's fine.
Do you know anyone named Claire? Veronica? Cescily? Marcella? Miranda? Veronica is one of the shelter board members.
How many outdoor birthday parties have you had? I'm not sure.
How much taller or shorter are you than your mom? A few inches shorter.
Who is your favorite sibling? I only have one sibling, but I do not favor them, lmao.
Do you have neat handwriting? If I take my time.
Do you enjoy journaling? This is about as close as I come to journaling these days.
What is your most recent new favorite food you’ve discovered? I guess vegan meatballs? I'm not vegan, but they're gluten free and that's what matters most to me, ahah.
Do you like sushi? Not really.
Have you ever tried seaweed? I have and I don't like it.
How often do you wash your hair? Almost daily, sometimes multiple times because I pretty much always shower after I get back from the shelter.
Do you have an actual pig-shaped piggy bank? I don't.
Would you rather hike a mountain or dive into the sea? Hike a mountain. I wouldn't mind swimming in the sea, but something like scuba diving sounds like a recipe for an anxiety attack.
Which Barbie doll was your favorite? I don't think I really had a favorite.
Do you prefer cheetah or zebra print? chevron or polka dots? paisleys or plaid? stripes or stars? Zebra, polkadots, paisley, stars.
Do you like your natural hair color? I'm fine with it.
What is your natural hair color? Brown.
Did you dream of becoming famous as a kid? Sorta.
What show did you want to be on? As a kid? Legends of the Hidden Temple.
Have you ever been to a gynecologist? No.
Do you use the Bitmoji app on your phone? No.
Do you get on facebook every day? No.
What is your Instagram screenname? x0.hallie.0x
Do you remember the very first episode of Spongebob when it first came out? I don't.
Did you watch the Kids Choice Awards when you were a kid? Maybe a tiny bit?
What was your favorite girl group when you were growing up? Spice Girls.
Would you ever consider naming a child after a family member? I don't want to have children.
List three names that sound similar to your name. Haylee, and idk, I guess anything else that rhymes with that or Hallie.
List three spelling of your name that you are glad you don’t have.
What were you almost named?
Do you like your name? Yeah.
What are your top three favorite girl’s names? boy names?
What is something you always wanted to do that your parents never let you? I can't think of anything.
Do you have any symptoms of COVID-19 right now? If you want to consider a slight headache a symptom. Speaking of symptoms, though! I had my first doctor appointment in forever the Wednesday before last. When they took my temp, I was running a fever. They even checked it a second time at the end of the appointment and nope - not a fluke. I was like huh, that's weird, I feel fine??? Turns out, I was not fine and ended up getting a minor sore throat cold thing that lasted a few days. Not sure if I was actually sick sick or if it was all the smoke from the Aspen Acres fire. Also, speaking of THAT, I haven't mentioned this via surveys yet, only on IG, but you know all of the nature photos I post here? Unfortunately, that location was involved in the fire. :'( I don't know the full extent of the damage, but it doesn't look good. I'm not sure when we'll be able to return. My dad and I have been going to the nature center for the past couple of Saturdays, which is where the picture at the top of the survey is from.
Have you made your own mask to help prevent the spread of the virus? No.
Do you know anyone who has the virus? No.
What was the last grocery store you shopped at? Walmart.
What does your name mean?
What countries have you visited? Never left the USA.
Do you have any regrets? Yeah. And since I'm trying to cram as much as possible into one survey for the sake of a solid update, I'll mention my ketamine therapy progress here. I feel like it's made a pretty significant difference. I may have described this already in a previous survey, but it's like...the old cycling thoughts are still there, but they're more distant and less all-consuming. Kind of like being on a new trail while I can still see the old trail through the trees. Sometimes I catch myself walking along that old familiar path, but it's becoming more natural to redirect to more productive ways of thinking. I'm not as stuck as I used to be. Yay for neuroplasticity.
Do you ever wish you had someone to hug? There are people I hug occasionally, but if I want to cuddle, I always have my kitties. :')
Do you ever sleep on your bedroom floor? Sometimes. Pretty often, actually.
It's my 2 year anniversary on Tumblr 🥳 (More like my 16th anniversary or something lmao.) I haven't been posting much lately, but things are going well! I'll tryyy to take - and hopefully actually finish - a survey soon!
it’s all about cats at the end of the day
Saturday, May 23rd, 2026.
Are you tired? Are you taking this survey because you can’t sleep? I am pretty much always tired on some level, but I'm not tired like I want to sleep. I'm taking this survey because we didn't go to the mountain park today due to my dad not feeling well. We ended up going to Natural Grocers instead to fill the void, ahah. Did it make up for the mountain park? No. Did I spend money and buy a bunch of snacks I didn't need? Yes.
Do you have something important to do? Not really. I do want to vacuum my room and wash some of my bedding today, though.
Do you like Jalapeno Cheetos? I do.
Do you wish you had a new phone? I just wish my phone had a better camera. It's bad in low lighting or when the subject (typically a cat) is moving around too much. Otherwise, it works perfectly fine for how I tend to use it - which is mainly for listening to YouTube videos.
Name one thing you ate today? Black licorice. I actually…kind of like it…
Do you like 80’s music? 60’s music? 90’s music? I like music from all of those decades.
Do you find rap music annoying? Not really. Certainly not as a whole. Some songs are pretty catchy.
What song is stuck in your head? Mostly just snippets of rap or rap adjacent songs due to the previous question.
Have you ever been to Germany? I haven't.
Do you drink coffee in the mornings? I normally drink tea with breakfast first thing in the morning, but I will make coffee when I get to the shelter. I also like to drink it while making art after my therapy appointments.
Do you become a fan of lots of things on Facebook? I haven't had a Facebook account for many years now.
What time do you go to bed on school/work nights? Suuuper eary. Like, so early that I'm embarrassed to even say it because I feel like people will be like…what the actual fvck. But I'm operating under the possibly false assumption that I wouldn't be able to squeeze in 7-8 hours of sleep if I went to bed any later. Could be that if I stayed up, then I would be more worn out, fall asleep faster, and sleep more deeply, but who knows.
Have you ever seen a therapist? I am currently seeing a therapist.
Do you get in trouble at school often? I basically never got in trouble at school.
Do you watch videos on YouTube? Yeppp.
Name a song that makes you happy. I can't think of anything atm.
Name a song that makes you want to dance. Hmmm.
Name a song that brings back memories. A number of alternative rock songs from the 90s and 00s make me nostalgic for that time period in general. Also, songs featured on various Rock Band / Guitar Hero games bring me back to my late teens and very early 20s. Kent reminds me of some of my 20s as well.
Does the song above bring back good or bad memories? A blend of good and bad and in between, made rosier by that deceptive veneer of nostalgia.
What decade do you think is the best musically? I'm partial to the 90s and the 70s.
Do you take a long time to get ready in the mornings? Depends on what I have to do to consider myself ready. On animal shelter mornings, it tends to take me around 40-50 minutes.
Do you wear a lot of makeup? I don't wear any makeup.
Have you ever written poetry or fiction? I have.
Do you know how to read music? Not anymore.
Do you regularly use a blow dryer? I don't.
When was the last time you went to church? Many years ago.
Would you date someone who was a different religion than you? I'm not 100% opposed to it, but I can see how it might complicate things if our beliefs weren't compatible or if they put pressure on me to convert, etc.
What is your best subject in school? Used to be English or pretty much anything that wasn't math related.
Name something you do nearly everyday. Nearly, hmm…drive, listen to classical music, eat crockpot stew, etc.
Do you take surveys a lot? I haven't been as active over the past couple of months.
Have you ever had sushi? Yeah. I can tolerate nigiri depending on the fish, but I don't like sushi rolls because I can't get past the taste of seaweed. Either way, it's not something I truly enjoy eating.
Saturday, May 23rd, 2026.
Are there any bugs you find cute? Which ones? Lady bugs, moths, little butterflies, pill bugs, bees (although I do also find them a bit scary just because I don't want to be stung).
Have any keys fallen off of your keyboard? How did this happen? o: None. I did have a keyboard in the past on which most of the letters were worn away. It was like some sort of UFO control panel.
When was the last time you felt stuck in a rut? Did you get out of it? How? I feel like I'm starting to find my way out of the rut I was in over the last few months.
Would you prefer to live in the city or the middle of nowhere? Why? I don't think I would want to live waaay out in the middle of nowhere because the commute and lack of convenience would probably be too much for me, but somewhere a bit more rural might be nice.
What is your earliest memory? Fragments of when we still lived in Louisiana. Attending pre-school, the "moving islands," our backyard, playing with my friends, etc.
The person who annoys you the most: What’s so irritating about them? There is one person who irritates me, but thankfully, I don't have to spend much time around her at all. We mostly just mutually ignore each other.
Do you remember irrelevant things easier than the important things? I suppose if they're truly important, then they're more likely to stick in my brain because I'll focus on them and think about them repeatedly, but that can also be the case for things that are more on the irrelevant side. Annnd sometimes I can just randomly forget or procrastinate important things, so...hmmm.
Do you sleep easily at night? For the most part, although there are nights that are more restless than others.
Out of everywhere you’ve ever been, where was your favourite? You know, I'm not sure. Lots of places come to mind, but these days, probably the mountain park because it's so familiar and peaceful.
Where would you like to travel next? I don't have any actual travel plans, but one destination on my bucket list would be Japan.
Do you prefer scarves to keep you warm or as flimsy accessories? More as accessories. I don't normally wear them for keeping warm.
Do movies ever inspire you to dress like the characters? Name a few: Not really. There aren't any that come to mind, anyway.
Do you own any clothes that used to be your friends' / relatives? Yeah.
Who do you know that shares your birthday? Of course I don't know him personally, but Albert Einstein. I don't know anyone IRL.
What are some of your interests? Volunteering, cats, spending time in nature, photography, art, the paranormal, religions, history, etc.
Do you care more about people’s basics or what makes them unique? I'm not sure. I guess it depends on the person or the context in which I'm interacting with them…?
Are you a shy person? I am still pretty shy, socially awkward, etc, but I have come out of my shell a bit more in recent years.
Do you watch any educational TV shows? Which ones? I like to watch educational channels on YouTube.
What is one of your favourite items of clothing? I recently bought a pair of coral-pink scrubs to wear at the animal shelter and they're really light and airy and comfortable.
What colour is your dream car? I'm happy with the car I have now, which is red. I don't really have a dream car. Mostly, I just want something that runs reliably and is easy to drive.
Do you like your music loud or soft? Soft for the most part, but there are times when I like to crank up the volume.
Can you sleep through things easily or does it need to be deadly quiet? Total silence leaves me at the mercy of my thoughts, so I prefer to listen to something on YouTube. Aside from that, I do prefer for it to be fairly quiet.
What are some of your favourite words? Susurrus, murmuration, tintinnabulation, halcyon.
Do you believe you only find true love once? No. Also, I think love is more like a gradient or a color wheel than something plainly black or white, true or false, and I feel like we put it on a pedestal and mystify it unnecessarily compared to other emotions. I don't think people spend so much time questioning whether or not they're truly happy, truly sad, truly angry…you probably get my point.
When you see lyrics as survey titles, do you guess the song they came from? Sometimes I can. Obviously depends on whether I know the song or not.
Do you prefer live or studio versions of songs? Studio.
Are you open with people? I'm slowly opening up little by little, but I wouldn't consider myself anywhere near an open book.
If you’re not interested in something, do you find it hard to pretend? Yeah.
If you could learn one skill, which would you choose? I want to sing. I have always LOVED singing, but I can't do it well. <- Same. I would also love to be really, really good at art.
Would you want to see your future, if you could? Nooo.
Do you ever feel a huge sense of dread? Yeah.
Can you give directions easily? (Map directions, not as a boss) It's a bit difficult when I'm put on the spot. It also depends on their starting point - like trying to give someone directions to my house starting from where they live, etc.
Do you get overly offended when people criticise you? I am still quite sensitive to criticism, even the constructive variety.
Is there anyone you don’t know, yet you still dislike heavily? Who / Why? Eh.
Can you deal with being told what to do? I am regularly told what to do at the animal shelter, so sure, in that sense; but I guess it does depend on the circumstances and how the person is going about it.
What’s your favourite kind of hat? Beanies.
What do you find most attractive about yourself? Physically, probably my eyes. Personality-wise, I guess I have that whole Pisces thing going on. Dreamy and silly, yet also capable of being quite thoughtful and analytical.
What is one of your biggest fears? Is it irrational? Losing my dad. No, it's not irrational, it's inevitable; but some of my surrounding fears about things completely falling apart as a result could be irrational in the sense that it might be possible to get to a stable enough position in my own life before it happens.
Do you daydream often? Ehh, sometimes. I get lost in thought a lot, but I wouldn't really call it daydreaming.
A distinguishing feature of yours: What is it and do you like it? I don't think I have any distinguishing features. I do like the way I look, but I also think I have a relatively generic and forgettable appearance.
What is the nicest thing somebody could tell you? Probably how much I matter to them or make a positive difference in their lives.
Wednesday, May 20th, 2026.
Who was the last person that invited you to go somewhere? Did you accept? Riley invited me to her birthday party next Sunday. It's going to be Stardew Valley themed, which sounds really cute. I did indeed accept.
What was the last food item that you toasted, other than bread? I'm actually not sure. I haven't even toasted my GF bread for the last few months because our toaster is full of regular bread crumbs.
Have you ever named any of your pets after a cartoon character? I haven't.
At what age did you get your first CD player, if you can remember? Like a portable player? Probably around middle school age.
Do you remember the first CD you ever owned? What was it? We already had a little collection of CDs when I was a kid, but regarding the first CD I purchased with my own money, I'm not sure.
Have you ever owned any music on cassette tape? Again, my parents already had cassettes, but I don't think I ever purchased one for myself. They were already kind of falling out of style in favor of CDs.
At what age did you begin using the Internet, social media etc.? Internet, probably late elementary school. Social media, probably not until late middle school or early high school. Some of the first social media sites I joined were Xanga, VampireFreaks, and Myspace.
Do you remember what you were doing last night at 9PM? Sleeping.
When was the last time you wore a hat? What kind? I wore a beanie when we went out grocery shopping earlier.
What was the last thing you wore that belonged to someone else? This silly colorful caterpillar dog costume that I found while Riley and I were searching for Winnie the Pooh themed toys in the shelter attic yesterday afternoon. It was too small to wear it properly, so I just sort of fastened it around my head. When you have absurd expectations put upon you, the only way to cope is to fully lean into the absurdity. I got back for my afternoon shift and was asked to deep clean the back of iso in addition to everything else. We managed, though…we three amoebas. ;D Although, sadly, the Winnie the Pooh litter photoshoot was drastically simplified due to the time constraints.
The last time you saw your sibling(s), what were they wearing? I haven't seen my sibling for over a decade, so I no longer have any idea what they would have been wearing.
When was the last time you ate a bowl of ice-cream? What flavour? We had it in paper cups because that was what was available, but yesterday afternoon. I brought in a few pints for an early b-day celebration and had them with Liv and Riley. We offered Helen some as well. The flavors were creamy mango, butter pecan, and chocolate peanut butter.
If you menstruate, has your cycle ever synced with anyone close to you? Idk.
Tell me about something within the last week that made you chuckle/giggle. Jokes with my dad or Liv and Riley.
What does your first name mean? Do you think it suits your personality?
Tell me something positive about the town or city that you live in. It's fairly close to the mountains so it makes for easy day trips to go hiking, etc.
Have you ever met anyone named Isobel? Tell me a little about this person.
How far away from your house is the nearest library? It's about a 5 minute drive away.
When was the last time you were at a bookstore? Did you buy anything? A couple of years ago, I went to Barnes & Noble with my mom. We also stopped at the Starbucks inside and got something to eat, but idk who paid for what.
What colour are the shoes you wear most often? How long have you had them? Black and white. I think I've had them for approaching 2 years.
Look around the room and name any item that's green. An evergreen candle, the bonnet on the painting of Bobbie that Riley made for me, blankets, a lighter…
Do you have any alcoholic beverages in your fridge right now? Which ones? Nope. There might be some old leftover rum from the holiday season before last when I made that rum berry tart, though…
Finally, what is something you do every day that brings you joy? :) Cuddle with my kitties.
Monday, May 18th, 2026.
Are you content with your social life? I suppose so. It's not something I'm desperate to change at the moment, anyway.
What kind of phone do you have? A Samsung Galaxy.
What is something freeing that you’ve done recently? I guess ketamine therapy? For quick reference: "In your brain, there’s a chemical called glutamate that helps nerve cells talk to each other. This chemical helps your brain control your mood, memory and decision-making skills. But when there’s too much glutamate, it can hurt brain cells and slow down areas that affect mood, stress and anxiety. Ketamine works by blocking certain glutamate signals in your brain. This helps protect brain cells and allows them to form new, healthy connections. It’s a process called synaptogenesis. These new connections may improve your mood and reduce symptoms." (Cleveland Clinic) I don't really know how to rank my level of change, but I did describe it like this the other day: you know the whole resting bitch face thing? Well, my resting bitch *thoughts* have become less dark, intense, and all-consuming. It's not like they're suddenly (POOF!) all gone, but it does seem like my general mind stream is lighter and positive thoughts have more of an opportunity to gain a foothold.
Do you own bluetooth headphones? I don't.
How many months until your birthday? It's not until next March.
Have you ever had edible flowers? I've eaten dandelions (and other random flowers when I was younger; honeysuckle, possibly rose petals, etc), but I've never had…like…flowers on my salad at a fancy restaurant or whatever.

What’s your favorite thing to put on a tortilla? Beef or chicken, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, peppers; or something like bananas, peanut butter, and honey.

Do you enjoy spicy foods? I do.
Do you ever shop at Walmart? What’s the last thing you purchased there? Yeah. That's where we do our weekly grocery shopping. We got mixed greens, carrots, one sweet potato (they were almost entirely out and the ones that were there didn't look that great or were just too huge and weirdly shaped to work well for my needs), bananas, pickles, gum, bread, cookies, sliced turkey, potato chips, coffee creamer (one for me and one to take to the shelter), bagels (shelter), cream cheese (shelter), strawberry poptarts (shelter), granola bars, cereal, pancake mix, yogurt, cat food, 3 pints of ice cream (to take in on Tuesday to celebrate Riley's upcoming b-day)…and maybe a couple of other things that I'm forgetting...
Have you ever hosted a party? I guess…kind of…? Like birthday parties. Except calling me the actual host would be a stretch.
What color are your eyes? Green-brown-gray.
What’s a song you’ve had on replay recently? None.

Have you ever slipped in the shower? And actually fell over? I don't think so.

Saturday, May 16th, 2026.
Do you have any giftcards? For where? The shelter gave me a Starbucks gift card a couple of weeks ago. I went in on a Sunday afternoon because they took in two bottle baby kittens and Lexi was overwhelmed dealing with them in addition to her normal vet tech tasks and iso, so I helped out in iso. Lexi also got me a drink from Starbucks the following morning as a personal thank you, which was super sweet of her and so good. I have some other cards as well, but I can't remember which ones I told my dad to just give to one of his friends. I also need to check to see if I have another Amazon card to redeem...
How old are your sibling(s)? My sibling is 35.
Have you ever sold anything on eBay? I've purchased from eBay before, but I've never sold anything online.
Do you ever read your old surveys? Honestly, quite rarely. I will reread extremely recent surveys, but the older they are, the more they make me cringe. Which kind of makes me wonder why I'm storing up an archive of things I don't even want to relive…except for the art and photography; those are things I do enjoy seeing again.
When was the last time you received flowers? I think that would have been for the volunteer appreciation dinner in 2024. Also, yesterday, I picked out some leftover plants from the plant sale that took place last Saturday. Katy told us to just take whatever we wanted because most of them were starting to wither anyway. I got a spider plant and something called a clockwork orange (?). They're up on the hutch with my pothos who magically survived the winter, my general neglect, and my total absence of a green thumb. I'm thinking of getting them some proper containers and maybe some new soil the next time I go to the store. I also want to see about maybe finding a way to hang them from the hook in the family room, which would provide them with much better lighting than the dim dining room.
What was the last series you finished watching? Do you have any plans to begin another? I can't even remember the last time I watched full series through to completion. No, I don't have any plans to watch anything new.

Did any bad situations happen for you today? Just the slight headache I had earlier, but that wasn't enough to stop me from going to the mountain park with my dad.
What search engine do you prefer online? I just use Google.
Are you usually wide awake in the mornings? Nooo. I feel so groggy, sluggish, stiff, and achy.
Do you normally have nightmares or good dreams? They're usually closer to nightmares than good dreams…but mostly they're just weird.
Have you ever done surveys someplace other than your house? Pretty sure I've taken them at a past partner's house.
Wednesday, May 13th, 2026.
Have you ever gone a full day without interacting with another person? I'm probably overthinking this because there are so many ways to "interact" with people in the internet era, even if the interaction is limited or one-sided, but let's just go with probably yes. I've definitely been home alone for an extended period of time.
How many relationships have you been in that lasted less than a year?
Where were you going the last time you were on a plane? Home from California.
Where were you going the last time you were on a train? I've never been on a train before, but if you want to count one of those nice travel buses, I think we were on our way home from a Rockies baseball game.

If so, what was the reason? For quite some time now, the only reason I've had for blocking anyone would be spam / scam accounts.

Do you know what your vocal range is? I don't.
When was the last time you spoke to your parents? I spoke to my dad when I was downstairs making my snack. The last time I spoke with my mom was back in March, I think? Or late Feb.

Have you ever been in a relationship where there was a large difference in maturity levels?
What is the coldest month of the year where you live? I looked it up and supposedly it's December. I would have guessed January or even late January to mid-February. I just don't think of December as being all that cold. It certainly wasn't last year. Pretty sure I recall some days breaking into the 80s.
When cooking a meal, do you clean up as you go or wait til you’re done? Depends.
Do you develop crushes easily? No.
What’s the longest you’ve ever stayed as a guest at someone’s house? I'm not sure exactly how long I was there, but I spent a good chunk of one summer with my god-parents in Pennsylvania.
Are there any colleges or universities in the town you live in? Yeah.
Do you use a passport wallet when you travel to other countries? I've never traveled outside the country.
How bad was your acne when you were a teenager? Not too bad. About the same as it is now. I just thought I would be done with zits at this age.
Would you rather exercise on an elliptical or a stationary bike? Elliptical.
Sunday, May 10th, 2026.
So, what are you doing later? I don't have any plans for later, but I was at the animal shelter earlier, came home, showered, did some vacuuming and sweeping downstairs, ate lunch, and now I'm here. Maybe I'll see if I can find a movie I want to watch.
What is your favorite thing to have for dinner? Some sort of mush bowl concoction.
If you drink it, what do you like in your coffee? Sometimes I will take it black, but most commonly, creamer.

When was the last time you burned any part of your body? Probably my tongue on some hot coffee recently.

Do you take off from school, or work for your birthday? I don't work, but I don't take off from volunteering.
If you attend school, what do you do on your days off? I'm not in school either, but as I mentioned above, the mountain park has become a Saturday thing. Every other Wednesday is therapy, except for recently it's been weekly due to ketamine therapy. I had my second round last Wednesday. I think it's making a little bit of a difference…? It's hard to say what's real, what's a placebo effect, or what's just a good day because of partially unrelated reasons. Oh yeah, and we also go grocery shopping on Wednesday mornings, and every few weeks I will have a hair appointment.
What are you listening to?
If you smoke, what color is your lighter? I have a few lighters lying around. Red, black, lime green…
What is missing from your wardrobe that you need to buy? Like, normal every day nice clothing. My outfits have devolved into pretty much everything being some sort of shelter garb or pajamas. I need regular pants, regular shirts…something that would actually make me look a bit put-together.
Does someone owe you over twenty dollars? No.
What city, state and country do you live in? Colorado, USA.
Is there anything you want to say to someone? Not really.
Are you really pale? If so, do you mind? I am pretty pale, but I don't mind it.

Do you listen to any acoustic bands, or singers? Probably sometimes.
How many arm chairs are in your house? There's a blue armchair in the family room.
Do you have a favorite YouTuber? Who? If I had to choose…maybe the brothers from Belief Hole. But I watch so many channels that it's pretty much impossible to have a single favorite above all others.
When was the last time you witnessed a sunshower? I'm not sure.
Do you think roses are an overrated way of showing love? I guess that depends on how the person you love feels about receiving roses…?
When was the last time you saw one of your best friends? Waaahhh.
Would you say you cry often? Yeah.
Saturday, May 9th, 2026.
Do you sleep on the edge of your pillow or in the middle? I normally sleep with my head in the middle.
Do you have any scars that you got while working? I pretty much always have at least one cat scratch on my body at any given time.
Which of your country’s stereotypes do you actually identify with? I don't think I strongly embody any American stereotype, but that being said, I do think I give off American vibes.
Are there any presents in your house right now? For who? A stained glass suncatcher depicting a black cat sleeping atop a pile of books and surrounded by flowers. It's a gift for Riley; her birthday is later this month. The online pictures looked beautiful, and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that it looked just as beautiful in person.
What is the last toy you bought? It was most likely a cat toy. I can't remember the last time I purchased a toy for myself.
What is the last thing you were shopping for, that someone next to you was also looking at? This doesn't involve a specific item, but I saw someone browsing the gluten free section at Walmart last Wednesday. I think that's the first time I've seen anyone else actually looking at those items.
What is the last trade you made? I'm not sure.
What colour is your vacuum? Black and lime green.
Do you use Duolingo? For which language(s)? I don't.

And last person you talked to that you have kissed? Idk.

What kind of oil do you cook with? Just "vegetable oil" atm. I think it's canola.

Do you drink light, medium, or dark roast coffee? All of the above. I'm an equal opportunity coffee enthusiast.
What is the last reason that your pet went to the vet? A second enema. Long story short, a few weeks back, Esther was dealing with some bad constipation, but she seems to be doing a whole lot better now after medication / diet change. Thank God because I thought we could be in her final weeks.
What is the oldest memory on your Facebook today? (Or whatever you use that does memories) Instagram does memories, but I don't know how to access them or generate them or whatever.
What is the last thing you bought off a stranger on the internet? No idea.
Last time you fuelled up a vehicle? Last week-ish.
How long was your last drive? About an hour.
Who was the last person to sleep at your house who doesn’t live there? Many many years ago, my sibling and one of their now-ex-partners.
What kind was the last load of laundry you did? Clothing. There are some blankets in the dryer as well.
Are there any animals printed on your shirt? Lol, there use to be a cat printed on the back of my long-sleeved shirt, but everything - text and all - has almost entirely faded away. It's my "love is a rescue cat" shelter shirt.
Tea or coffee? If I had to pick just one…coffee.
Joints or pipes/bongs? A joint would feel so nostalgic.
What is the last seasoning you used? Salt. But if you're looking for something aside from salt or pepper, taco seasoning on the beef I cooked last night.
Last plant you bought or received? I bought two plants at the shelter plant sale last autumn. One is still alive and perched atop the hutch in the dining room. The second baby didn't make it.
Last bug or arachnid you saw? I saw lots of bugs while out hiking earlier. As for an arachnid, most likely a spider, but there was also a dead scorpion on the small porch area on the side of the house just recently. At first I wasn't sure it was even dead, but I let it be, and when I came home from the shelter yesterday night, ants were eating it. This morning, it was completely gone.
How many weddings have you attended? Two.
Last meal you cooked? I made some sort of deconstructed burger bowl last night with salad mix, beef, cheese, pickles, potato chips, mustard, and sriracha sauce. Tasted like a cookout on the fourth of July.

What is the last show you watched?
What is the last can or bottle that you put into recycling? Cat food cans.
Wednesday, April 29th, 2026.
What's your blog title from? It's not really from anywhere. I chose it due to my love for cryptids, the paranormal, and high strangeness in general.
What movie have you watched most recently? What did you think of it? I think the last movie I watched was The Dark Crystal. The story itself was a pretty straightforward fantasy-adventure tale, but the puppets and set design…amazing.
What are you looking forward to right now? The volunteer appreciation dinner at the animal shelter this evening. Also, lunch, lol.
If you could do anything at all today, what would it be? Anything at all…maybe have a Hobbit-style picnic at a warm mountain meadow full of wildflowers. Watch the billowing clouds drift by, the butterflies and bees. Go for a meandering hike... But my actual day has been nice too. I got up early to go grocery shopping with my dad, had my therapy appointment (first ketamine session!), and I just finished making some art. After I finish with this survey, I'm going to make lunch and relax until it's time to leave for the dinner later.
What's your drink of choice? (Coffee/tea order, alcohol of choice, pop, etc) Before all else, ice water. When it comes to coffee, I'm not that picky. I like it instant, black, with creamer, iced, so decadent it's basically a liquid dessert, etc. Tea, I often take it plain or with a bit of milk or creamer. I don't drink alcohol very often at all, so no drink of choice there really. I also don't drink much soda; however I have been reallyreally craving full sugar Coke, so I got some at the store earlier. Gonna maybe have some with lunch in a bit.
What's your hair routine like? Anything special? Wash it, dry it, attempt to style it, get a haircut every few weeks, nothing special.
What's your favorite way to travel? Is there a mode of travel you haven't done that you want to experience? Depends on how far I'm going, but driving, I suppose, as long as it's in-state. Cross-country, I would probably begrudgingly opt for a plane…idk. Maybe not. I would like to try train travel, though. That sounds like a possibly more pleasant alternative to driving or flying.
Favorite month of the year and why? October. Peak autumn vibes. Leaves in bright transformation. Cooler weather, longer nights. Halloween approaching. Seasonal foods. The promised descent into the increasingly cozy territory of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Truly, I just love autumn as a whole. Thanksgiving and Halloween compete for favorite fall holidays, but the sad thing about Thanksgiving is that it means the autumn experience is almost over. So, I love the aesthetic and the nostalgia, but I hate feeling like I'm grasping on to the last little threads. Ughhsdfj. Maybe if I could live in a dream world where it was always cycling through autumn. Although…you know…I have been appreciating springtime lately. Idk if it will ever replace winter as my second favorite season, but…hmm.
Favorite time of day and why? Nighttime when I put on my little videos, cuddle with my cats, and go to sleep. :')
Do you play or follow any sports? & elaborate on that? I don't.
What kind of music is stuck in your head a lot lately? Nothing in particular.
Dishes or laundry? Neither one takes that much effort. I barely have any dishes because, for the most part, I wash them right after I finish eating. And laundry takes just a couple of minutes, if you don't count the waiting in between loads. Even if I had to choose between those tasks at the animal shelter, it's pretty much a coin toss of whatever.
What's something you learned recently? I watched a video about orchids while falling asleep last night, so lots of different things about them.
If you could give a TED talk on anything, what would you talk about? Not sure I'm a Ted Talk level of proficient at anything.
What's a piece of advice you find yourself giving a lot? Ehhh.
What's a piece of advice you would give to yourself five years ago? I had a lot of good advice coming my way as it was, so I don't think anything extra would have made a significant difference. It was more about learning how to apply advice, learn life lessons and skills, etc.
Do you believe in luck and superstition? Do you carry any lucky items or follow any lucky rules? MmmmMMm. I guess you would say…paranoid…?
Are you musical? Play any instruments or sing? Would you ever perform for an audience? I'm not good at it, but I like to sing…sometimes. No, I would never perform.
Write, type, or speak? Depends on the situation.
What do you wish someone would ask you? Nothing in particular.
Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026.
What time will you be getting up tomorrow morning? I need to be up by 5:45am to get ready for volunteering.
Is this the best year of your life? No. It hasn't been the worst year of my life (far from that, thankfully), but it has been a bit of a bummer so far. Between the situation with my mom that felt largely out of my control and desire to tolerate, some health issues with my cats (one in particular who had me really worried), and my own ongoing issues, it's been a struggle lately. It's like I hit a promising peak a couple of years ago and I was feeling more hopeful about everything, but I've been gradually losing momentum. Both physically and mentally, I just cannot keep up with that same level of intensity, but it wasn't even like I was doing all that much before. It's frustrating.
How far away is the last person you kissed? Very.
Why do the moons of other planets have a name but ours is just called moon? Idk.
What was the best thing that happened to you last year? Getting put on cat iso after Pam quit. I thought it was going to be a temporary arrangement, just until they hired some new vet techs, but I'm still doing it! It really strikes the perfect social balance for me because I primarily work alone, but I still have some opportunities to be around others, especially during my afternoon shifts or if I help out in cattery for a bit after I finish with my morning tasks. Only downside is that it's less flexible because if I miss a day then someone has to be pulled from medical or cattery to cover it, whereas I used to just be a supplementary person in cattery, so it didn't really matter whether I was there or not. Recent health stuff with my kitty Esther really put my people-pleasing self through the wringer because I hated to let them down, but I didn't want to be away from her, etc. It was a whole internal war; some battles were won, some were lost, and more than ever I realize just how much I need to learn how to be true to my own needs. My kitty seems to be doing much better, though! Idk if we're out of the woods yet, but I feel like I can breathe and begin to let my guard down again.
Do you eat breakfast daily? I do.
Are you borrowing books from anybody at the moment? I'm not.
Is there a book store in walking distance? Eh. I guess you could walk to Barnes & Noble if you really wanted to. It wouldn't be a particularly nice walk, though.
What was the last frozen treat you had? I had an icepop at the animal shelter yesterday. I just needed something cold and sugary.
When was the last time you used a pay phone and who were you calling? I don't think I've used one since I was a teen. Probably at the mall back when I used to play DDR in the arcade, and I was most likely calling one of my parents.
Is there any kind of design on your socks? Nope.
Where are you going tonight? I have a hair appointment this afternoon, but after that, I'm not planning on going anywhere.
Do you play games on your graphing calculator? I don't recall whether I ever did or not. Maybe Snake, if anything.
Are your lips currently chapped? Slightly.
What’s the last smiley face you used? Something like this 😁 with the "thumbs up" emoji. I was texting the cattery group chat to let them know that Chicklet the kitten was still in the kennel (she's an escape artist).
How many rings do you wear, if any? Most days, none. Maybe two or three when I actually do bother to wear them.
Meet anyone new today? My new psychiatrist and a couple of nurses? (I'm not sure about their exact job titles.) My therapist recommended ketamine therapy during our last appointment, so I'm going to be starting that next Wednesday. I'm both nervous and excited, so we'll see how it goes. The animal shelter volunteer appreciation dinner is that same evening; the effects should wear off well before that, but I hope I'm not still feeling loopy. I'm approaching my three-year anniversary of my return to volunteering. Hurray for staying generally consistent and not ruining things. ;D
