Bedridden Witch: Solar and Lunar edition

Since creating my bedridden space witch post I’ve had many requests for one specifically on solar and lunar witchcraft, so I figured I’d make an expanded version on those topics!

Solar ☀️

Set up:

Decorate with sun-themed items

Wear sun jewelry

Collect crystals you associate with the sun

Hang red, orange or yellow curtains

Get a sun projector lamp

Make an altar for the sun

Hang a sunrise/sunset calendar

To do:

Make sun water, sun tea or sun oil

Spritz sun water on your pillow/bedding

Use sun water to cleanse; including your face/body by dabbing it on or using a washcloth

Make sun salts

Cleanse and charge items in the sun (if safe to do so)

Open the curtains and bask in the sun

Feel the warmth and strength of the sun

Drink teas with warm spices

Observe the different energies of the sun based on its position in the sky and utilize it in your practice [X]

harnessing and using external energies

one of the mistakes i made as a beginner witch is using my own energy to power spells, which is exhausting. a good way to combat that involves channeling energy from an external source - i will use the moon as an example.

no, it's not to say that channeling energy is easier or not exhausting in itself - it's to say that you have options at your disposal to keep yourself from quickly and constantly burning out.

channeling energy - gather energy from an external source such as the moon. i like to imagine a silver string that connects us together, a tether if you will. typically i visualize this energy as a ball of light forming in my core or my hands.

direct - once you've gathered your energy, where do you want it to go? directly into a spell? saved for a rainy day? into a physical object of sorts? or maybe keep it within yourself?

charging - using that energy to power spells, enchantments, items, etc.

battery - store energy for later use - i like using quartz towers - then you can use that to power objects without having to channel energy every. single. time.

you can easily compare this concept to charging electronics.

there's a couple ways to charge a phone - you can either plug it straight into the wall, or charge up your power bank first and use that to charge your phone - channeling and charging in magic follows the same process.

the phone in this example is the vessel that holds energy.

electricity from wall outlet = moon aka energy source

charging cord = tether to the moon for channeling

phone = the thing you're transferring energy to aka charging

the intent to plug your phone in to charge = directing energy

actually plugging your phone in = charging

power bank = energy you gathered and stored away

choosing the outlet vs the power bank = immediate use of lunar energy vs storage for later use

once your phone is charged, what are you gonna do with it? open tumblr? send a text? now you get to decide where that energy is going to be sent and what it'll be used for (storage, spells, enchantments, etc.).

tips & advice

keep in mind that your phone isn't going to charge if it's dead and you only leave it plugged in for like 5 minutes. take your time to sit with the moon, have a conversation, meditate alongside one another, and get to know each other before asking for help.

i don't advise channeling energy directly into yourself to save for later use. it will eventually burn out, drain you, and then you're back to square one.

stored energies still need to be maintained and recharged, just like a battery.

what to do afterwards

sever the tie that connects you to the moon - be nice and give thanks.

if you've used energy to cast a spell immediately after channeling, close out your spell however you want (like, taking down a circle if you've cast one).

if you chose to store that energy away instead, set the vessel aside for later use.

ground yourself to shake off any lingering static, so to speak.

as with anything, your mileage may vary - do what works for you and with whatever energy you choose. good luck!

💫What is Casting a Circle?💫

Casting a circle is controlling your energy to use it as a protection barrier to set boundaries while creating a sacred space for you to craft in. The circle is a symbol of setting a territory that when casted it creates a temple or sacred sphere with your energy field. The act of casting a circle also helps you focus your energy on the task at hand to better enhance the result.

💫Do you have to do it?💫

While many say no, I feel its dependent on the task. If you are doing simple crafting like stirring your coffee with intent, you wouldn’t have to cast a circle for. As a new card reader, I would suggest casting a circle to better focus your energy and have a clearer reading. When I work divination, I connect with spirit guides and my ancestors. I will cast a circle to better connect with them for a clearer reading.

When practitioners are doing spell work they are pushing their energy out to set their manifest. To better protection yourself and the energy you create, I suggest casting a circle before serious in depth work.

Consider casting a circle when meditating and doing shadow work. You are very raw and open during these times so a little bit of protection goes a long way.

💫What does it look like?💫

While many witches cast circles by laying out items in a circle such as salt, herbs, crystals, candles, or incense. Others will draw a circle around them. (Please be cautious when casting a circle with salt on bare ground as it can damage the soil ) Many will envision their circle around them without having use of any actual tools. Some witches see it as a circle the symbol of life, Ouroboros, earth, sun and, moon. While others will use the shape of the triangle as a symbol of the trinity, number 3, mind, body and soul.

💫How do you cast a circle?💫

Each witch’s approach to casting a circle can be different. As always, its best to figure out what works for you, so these are just suggestions.

Start with creating a comfortable space; clean up a bit and get comfortable.

Take into consideration the direction you want to sit. Many face North when in their circle, typical for earth-based practitioners. Sun practitioners face East but it is not a requirement just a more traditional approach.

Clear your mind and breathe in your energy.

While holding out your dominate hand; you can hold a burning incense or herbs along with either a crystal, wand, feather or athame while walking in a clock wise circle. State the boundary you are setting by creating your sphere. Example I will say something along the lines of “I cast this circle of protection with perfect love and perfect trust that only my spirit guides and deities may enter.” This is NOT a requirement just something I will say in my own practice.

See or feel your energy laying out a sphere of protection around you as you are later your energy. I suggest going in a circle 3 times but use a number that is sacred to you to set the barrier.

💫 How to close a the circle💫

When you are finished casting make sure to close the circle. Walking counterclockwise see or feel the energy leaving or being vacuumed away. Thank your guides, deities , earth or universe for its help. I usually say that I am closing my circle and releasing the energy there.

failure. if you believe that you can fail then you will, simply put. living in the end is incredibly easy. it's just thinking from your desire! if you change this assumption, living in the end will be automatic.

why you're already in the end.

as God, you're omnipotent (all-doing), omniscient (all-knowing), omnipresent (all-seeing). meaning, you are everywhere and everything (eiypo). so if you are everywhere and everything, how do you go somewhere? you have to forget your god state and think of yourself as just a human being. forgetting is the reason we are able experience changes. whether that be the transition from today to tomorrow, here to there, or awakening to sleep. you're already there.

what to do now.

no more affirmations, visualizing, or angel numbers. you're already god, you're already there. just believe that you are in the end, because you are.

think about it... your reality is created by your assumptions. you might say ''yea no shit, everyone here knows it by now, luna''

nah but like really think about it. your reality is created by your assumptions. this contains everything, every single thing you can ever think of. that means you can change literally anything you want, absolutely anything. think about it for a moment.

if you finally accept that your assumptions create reality, that means you can live the life you want in every aspect. don't tell me shit that start with but's and if's. do you realize the power you have? don't take it lightly. you literally have the power to change anything about your life at any moment. i'm getting repetitive but i really want to emphasize it.

if you believe you gain 100k trillion each day, it will happen. if you believe you manifest everything in a minute, it will happen. if you believe you shift the moment you lay in bed, it will happen. if you believe you get 100's/A's from all exams, it will happen.

so why are you accepting life as it is when you have the power to easily change it? why are you letting that power go to waste? ''well my self concept is bad:('' well either improve it or stop assuming you can't manifest with a bad sc (i'd recommend the former though)

imagine a very rich person that can buy most of the stuff they want in the world. like idk elon musk or bill gates or smth. then imagine them saying to you ''well i cant afford to buy this house :/ i wish i could buy it i really want it so much ahhh why can't i buy the house :(('' you'd think they were crazy right?? because they are literally rich and could easily afford the house?? babes, you knowing about loa and being a conscious manifestor but still accepting the circumstances / settling for anything less than what u want is just as crazy as that.
