A list of odd behavior by LM and JDS regarding Klance

Comparing it to a canon rivals to lovers ship from an old tv show (what JDS specifically said: “they were antagonistic and they sort of hated each other at the beginning of the show, but my mom died for them to fall in love, to be with each other. my mom was like, ‘what’s gonna happen? it’s gotta be maddy and david! it’s gotta happen!’ and ultimately, it did.”)
LM that the two were compatible in everything but ship name
JDS recently saying: “…their character arcs kind of have…probably the biggest evolution on the show. they started off at one place, and their relationship has evolved, and i think shipping them is just you know continuing that evolution. it’s sort of a natural progression.”
Never, and I mean never, explicitly negating the ship’s plausibility
On the opposite end, never mentioning it in detail like they do with other canon ships (as far as I can remember, L*tura wasn’t hinted at heavily by cast)
Being notorious about lying about plot points before (I.e. clone Shiro, Galra Keith, Pidge’s gender)
The two having worked on LoK (and ATLA for JDS)and knowing their work with Korra and Asami: developing that ship the way they did (essential rivals to lovers), with the same color scheme (red/blue), and also having seen how the LoK fandom rallied for Korasami, makes it especially hard to completely buy that they “didn’t expect” Klance to reach the levels of poppularity it did. Like, really? You nearly genderbended your canon LGBT ship into a new show and it was just “an accident” it became popular?
