Here are some ideas for unique, unforgettable, and probably a bit creepy romantic getaways in Wisconsin.
Today, December 13th, is the feast day of St. Lucy, a young Sicilian girl who was killed in AD 304 during the Diocletianic Persecution. Lucy had consecrated her virginity to God, angering an unwanted suitor who outed her to the Roman authorities as a Christian. Some stories say she tore out her own eyes to discourage the suitor, who admired them, while others claim her eyes were gouged out while she was being tortured. Today, some of her incorrupt body lies at the Church of San Geremia in Venice, with various other pieces venerated as holy relics in other churches. Her eyeless head is said to be at the cathedral of Bourges.
Ed Gein returns from the grave to capture a rogue demon terrorizing his home town of Plainfield, WI in the 4-part comic book miniseries Ed Gein: Demon Hunter.
