Okie @obamasleftkidney I have finished the book! (I am a slow reader lol) My final verdict in: I loved it!

The story kept me on my toes trying to figure out what was happening, while also laying out the clues rather well (the puppet clue in particular was fun, though I didn’t understand it fully until the end). The way the characters were portrayed, particularly Royce, made it easy to understand their motives and actions (even if I don’t agree with some of them, but morally grey characters will do that to you).

I will admit, getting into it was difficult for me, but at no fault of the writing. It took me a while to adjust to the formatting of the speech, initially thinking all spoken dialogue were thoughts due to them being italicised. It was kind of jarring to me, but once I got the hang of it it was fine.

(Keeping this bit as vague as possible because spoilers lol) My favourite bits of it had to be the reveal of Riley and all the Eden scenes. Mainly the Riley thing though, that part gave me goosebumps. Props to you for the descriptions in that scene, it was incredibly well done.

I will go on record and say I WAS RIGHT (kinda, like half way right). Not really for the right reasons though lol. Reading through the detective’s final summary of the case felt rewarding and also really cool, seeing the pieces I had missed while also seeing some pieces I had put together.

So yeah, I really enjoyed that. I cannot wait to see what else this detective gets up to!

Headcanon about Hivemind: The venom in his bees can either kill a person in large doses, but if he’s careful with the dosage he convert them to his Hivemind.

Lots of stings at once, the victim’s most likely going to die! The venom is too much and too strong!

Several good stings? Enjoy having to struggle for control for the next few hours if you’re lucky, out for a day if you’re not.

If the victim is given some doses? It’s different for everyone, but he can typically have someone be fully under their control with higher doses of venom at the cost of their health, lower doses making them prone to following his orders, and a general ability to read their mind.

He never gets to show much of this dastardly ability of his, it’s pretty obvious to the agency if an agent’s been stung enough to cause concern. A few days not working to flush it out of their system if it’s bad enough. They they’ve learned…

An immediate solution is alcohol, it messes up the venom’s effect by keeping it from latching to anything in the bloodstream, keeping it from causing damage until it’s flushed out. A strong drink before, during, or after a mission should do the trick. Only about an hour of monitoring their mental state and then they’re good for the next mission!

It does not prevent death. Just control.

Don’t forget ColourLovers, either! It’s a social media-esque site where you can browse tons of palettes and share your own.

You can browse the most popular ones or search for certain colors, themes, and even specific hex codes!

When you find one you like, you can download a wallpaper swatch of it and also select the specific colors it uses to look at more palettes that use those same ones.

ColourLovers is my go-to for when I’m having trouble coming up with a color scheme! It’s also been around for over a decade, so there’s plenty to browse through.
