It bobs between his lips when he says, voice low, “Do you fancy some coke?”

“Sorry?” Tom leans forwards, sure he’s misheard.

Chris shrugs. “Coke. Do you want some?”

Looking around at the passing cars, at the shoddy restaurant they’ve just stepped out of, Tom sighs.

It’s been a while.

“Why the hell not?”

I’ve written a stand-alone sequel to my Thorki mafia AU In Spite of Everything for the @thorki-anthology. You can find a snippet below!

It had taken Loki months to let Thor kiss him - after the first, frustrated crash of mouths that started it all he had insisted, stubbornly, on impersonal fucks that made Thor grit his teeth in frustration - but then one day he’d tilted his chin up, mid-fuck, and let Thor slide determined, desperate lips over his.

Still, he was afraid to move.

Just a sketch, Fandral had said, shrugging. Won't take long.

Even with his knowledge of the generous wage the man paid for his sessions, Thor had found himself surprised by the size of Laufeyson’s home. Tall ceilings, rows and rows of long windows. “Are you quite alright?”

Thor started at the sound. He hadn't heard much of Laufeyson’s voice all day, and now it echoed from the high ceiling in the grand, open space that appeared to be his studio.

Thor dared to lift his head.

Laufeyson tilted his own, lowering his pencil. “You're grimacing.”

Attempted to school his face, Thor murmured, “Sorry.”

Laufeyson let out a sound that could've been a laugh. Thor wasn't sure. “Nonsense. Are you alright, or not?”

His question was clipped yet not impatient.

“My back…” Thor shrugged one shoulder, feeling even that pull at the complaining muscle.

With a tut, Laufeyson placed his pencil on the easel ledge and stood gracefully from his chair.

“Well, why didn't you say so?” he asked, long-legged stride carrying him to Thor’s side in a matter of seconds. “Sit up.”

Commanded, Thor did as he was told, instinctively cupping his hands over his groin as he did. He’d found that he didn't at all mind having Laufeyson’s eyes on him from across the room, observing and studying, rendering him on paper. But having him so close was another matter.

Laufeyson, however, had no qualms about being in proximity to his naked model, perching himself on the futon at Thor’s back.

Laufeyson lifted a brow.

Stuck for exactly how to word it, Thor gestured vaguely back into the house. “With Fandral?”

After a moment, the corner of Laufeyson’s mouth lifted.

“No.”

Ahaha, Mona you know how tropey I am, dear god. But most embarrassed? It’s gotta be that step-daddy trope. That big, hot man with a lingering gaze shows up and puts his hands on his girlfriend’s kid trope. I’m such a sucker for that, over and over. I’ll see you in hell.

11. what fic do you wish you had written?

This one is HARD. There are so many fics in this fandom that are just...you know when you read them and you’re actually angry that the author wasn’t paid for this? Like, how do actual novels that are one-tenth of the quality of these fan fics get published and this author is giving me this for free?

But I don’t wish I’d written any of them because then I wouldn’t have gotten to read them.

In the spirit of giving an answer, I’m going to say that the Caveman Thor and Loki fic stands out for me as a real accomplishment. The author not only successfully wrote a quality fanfic in first person (practically unheard of??) but they made up a language, they explored so many facets of human nature and love and the need for survival, and wrapped it all up in a fic that is hot and heart-felt and just an amazing adventure to read.

I haven’t done this for a while, I’m horrified to report, but back when I was regularly wallowing in the warmth of my bed reading fics I always inevitably ended up here reading one of townpariah’s Hiddlesworth fics. There’s a few you have to be logged in to read but they’re all good, and they have the feel of slow, syrupy summer mornings. I think also they evoke a time in Hiddlesworth fandom for me that leaves me feeling lovely and nostalgic. Still My Heart, Hold My Tongue and You’d Keep Me Honest are my favourites of hers.

There are fics I have read an embarrassing amount of times. Sincerely embarrassing.

At Least The Money Is Good (Hiddlesworth) by @thisdorkyblogthing remains one of the hottest one-shots I’ve ever read. I don’t know if it’s the setting, the frat-boy-ness of Chris or what, but it’s a go-to for me.

Stranger in a Strange Land (Thorki) by @pohjanneito is a really comforting fic, for me, because it’s set in such a cold climate during such a hopeless time, but it’s so full of warmth and hope and tenderness.

Stranded (Thorki) by @thorduna is one I’ve waxed lyrical about in the past. It’s such a playful fic but it’s so emotionally satisfying, to me. I get everything I need from this fic.

And I’ve read parts of Chrysalis (Thorki) by @teresa-dances-in-sequins enough times that I could probably recite sections word for word.
