There's a sigh that escapes him as he begins to follow after Ritsuka, listening along to her explanation.
Once again, the gap between them was wide. Their reactions to this situations were opposite...but maybe there's an inkling of hope within this. What he had once said - following in her example, changing the world just to survive. Even if back then, it meant continuing on with his vengeance no matter what. Becoming her enemy.
Maybe here it could mean just living. Without chains of the past. Talking to faces he never thought he'd see again, even if they'd vanish the next day. Ugh, but the thought of that was aggravating too. And even in this place, the stories he so hated persisted. Changing the world here...

Bowing his head, John ducks through the brush she holds aside for him and steps into the clearing. And it's certainly a sight to behold. Nature had always been a respite of sorts for him - he was an eager hunter in life, more than most. There was a certain calming feeling that came about being in the outdoors...and perhaps, the beauty of this spot was almost amplified by the sharp drop of the cliff's edge.
He had always been a fan of the morbid, however.
"Ugh...don't. No, I shouldn't be so surprised that you'd speak of even death so casually, but you shouldn't say such things."
Not as someone that wanted to live so desperately.
"You've died here and you're more focused on the burger shop nearby...they must truly be good, then."
