holy communion
every Sunday,
I wash blood out of my mouth.
it's dripping,
red tears down the side of my lips,
oh how my cup overflows.
scrub it out with curses,
and screaming,
singing every song I could never listen to,
with nakedness and sex,
give me everything unpure and holy
to cleanse myself of the stench
The blood of children,
bruised by the rod
The blood of beating hearts,
taken captive for God
The blood of Jesus,
Swallowed raw
Poured out for you
Spilled for you
Broken for you
For you, for you,
You dirty pervert,
You lazy slob,
You greedy gluton,
You gossiping bitch,
You depraved,
You wretched,
You undeserving,
You defiled,
You need blood to cover up
You whore
Come crawling back every week for more
Guzzle it up like an animal,
Beast, let it drip from your teeth
Bow to your master,
Selflessly beaten and gored,
Now say thank you,
You're saved,
Now feel grateful,
Sending this man to his short lived grave
You'll die someday too,
And be risen again,
Rinsed clean from it all
Perfect, stainless, amen.
People invented the Christian God.
The Christian god is a literary character: creation, not creator.
We don't need to fear him, love him, or shape our lives around him. He is a character in a story. We can disapprove of him, criticize his actions, or completely ignore him. We can put the book down, make art out of it, or rewrite it entirely if we want to.
Don't get me wrong, storytelling is a very powerful tool. Mythology contains many fascinating metaphors. It makes sense to find meaning in stories and incorporate it into our lives. We can learn a lot from creating, sharing, and discussing stories.
But the lessons we learn, the metaphors we use, and the attitude we take toward the world remain our responsibility. Offloading morality, meaning, and agency onto a literary character does not give anyone a free pass to cause suffering.

something something xtianity really shepherded us like lambs to the slaughter something something
google how to reach salvation no god no religion in 5 minutes
This has been said before better but the fact that to convince someone of christianity they must first be convinced that they are born evil is fucked up. Like its creating a problem just to sell a solution.
That's why people that already believe they are evil get trapped faster
If someone is offering you salvation and that same person is also threatening you with damnation, thatās not salvation, itās extortion.
Every time someone mentions how god really doesn't want to torture anyone, but he has to because something about rules that an omnipotent being made but is actually helpless to change and therefore bound by, my instant reaction is Then Don't Create the Problem. God supposedly set up this world knowing exactly what was going to happen, did it anyway, then blamed and punished humans for everything he did to them because they weren't literally perfect. When he's the one who set up the conditions that made everything go to shit, with full knowledge of all future events including their causes and effects. I just can't anymore.
Imagine this: you go to a pottery class, and you make a mug. Youāre not very good at it. The mug has a big crack in it. But, itās your mug and you love it.
You put water in it. It flows out the crack, because of course it does, you made it that way!
And you say to the mug, āthis is your fault. You didnāt measure up to your trials! Beg me for forgiveness, or Iāll throw you away and you get to rot in a junk yard forever!ā
Thatās absolutely wild, right? And what would be more wild is if the mug said āof course, Iāll be better I promise, and I know that if I try really hard then next time Iāll hold water for you! Youāre so merciful and loving. Thank you for not rejecting me.ā
But thatās just what god does. he made us imperfect and then blames us for our imperfections. And somehow calls it mercy.
this is a really old post but I remember one time my Christian mom was telling me about trying to share Jesus with this little girl, who couldn't understand it because she didn't believe she had done anything wrong. I thought that was interesting. Like just being someone who it wasn't hammered into you that you are basically sinning by being alive
this is as close to heaven as you'll ever get so you might as well enjoy it while you still can...
teeshirt where the front says GOD LOVES ME in big letters and then i turn around and the back says BUT NOT ENOUGH TO SAVE ME!
christians and catholics will say āthank god he favors me unlike those people out there suffering. he deserves praiseā and think thereās nothing wrong with that statement
so fond of the term āreparenting yourselfā liiiike even if you werenāt raised under the best circumstances itās not too late for uā¦.. u just dissemble reassemble and do it as much as u want toā¦.. the endless creation of oneself etc etc
