The thing with growing up with abusive parents is you’re never allowed to express your emotions. Being angry or sad leads to getting yelled at or worse for feeling like that. Not wanting to do something and expressing this leads to the same thing. As a result, you grow up to struggle to express emotion, you shut down whenever you feel angry or sad, you don’t want anyone to see it because you’re used to never being allowed to feel like that.
