Different anon here, I want to hear about blorbos suffering through timeloops! or your thoughts on them, at least
If you're in a timeloop that sucks (see: higurashi, where the timeloop always ends with someone brutally murdered in the best case scenario) you're piling trauma onto trauma onto yourself, which will fuck you up.
If you're in a regular timeloop with no murder or anything, you're still gonna have A Very Unfun Time from the sheer claustrophobia of it. You cannot fucking get out. In real life if you have a bad day you can always say "well that sucked but at least tomorrow will be different." In a timeloop tomorrow will always be the same.
If you're in a regular timeloop with no murder or anything, you're still gonna have A Very Unfun Time from the sheer meaninglessitude of it all. None of what you're building will ever last. Whatever you have written yesterday will be gone. The friendships you've built will be forgotten. Nothing you do will ever have any impact on anyone or anything, except you.
If you're in a regular timeloop with no murder or anything, you're still gonna have A Very Unfun Time from the sheer repetitiveness of it all. Yes, of course, there's plenty to explore even in a small patch of time and space, but realistically you're still gonna have to go through the same phone call at 5am and the next door neighbour will always greet you with the exact same line. Do you play video games? When you die against the boss, do you skip the dialogue? What if it's a long monologue? What if you've had to face this boss so many times you knew it by heart? What if you couldn't log out?
If you're in a timeloop, you're gonna develop a very weird relationship towards the people around you. If you're the only one who remembers, the only one who can fucking act instead of following the same pattern and script and predictable outcomes- are they people at all? Aren't they just npcs? Aren't you the only human here? Why does it matter if you kill the baker and dye your hands in his blood. He'll be fine in the next loop. He won't even remember it.
So you're trapped. You're scared. You're desperate. None of what you do matter, the people around you are now so different from you you might as well try talking to a martian, you are lonely, and, most importantly, you can't quit. If you die you just come back next time. You are trapped.
What are you willing to do to get out?
Let's say, after years and years of hard work, you manage to struck the golden ending. You have saved everyone around you, even little Timmy who honestly was a fucking bitch. You saved the old man by the bridged, you salvaged your best friend's marriage, you got a Hugo Award, and you moved the groundhog to a bigger enclosure. And the next morning you are back at the beginning of the loop. It wasn't your way out. It's impossible for you to keep everyone happy and be free yourself.
