Hello! ID: How to go from THIS (flat coloured cowboy lady, red hair, wearing a lot of brown) to THIS (the same cowboy lady, shaded) by Turtle-Brownie

Start by shading with pale blue/purple (the areas where the shadow is e.g. under the rim of the cowboy hat, are coloured in purple).

Lock opacity/transparent pixels, and airbrush the edges with a pink or red. (The cowboy lady is now 60% blue, pink and red. It would appear red results in brighter shade of final shadow?)

Set layer to multiply and adjust opacity to liking. Duplicate lineart twice (for total of 3 line art layers).

Colour bottom and top lineart layer a pink/red colour, and set to overlay. Use gaussian blur on bottom layer. Asjust opacity as needed. There’s a screenshot of the three layers, for clarity, layer 1 is on the bottom, layer 2 is middle, layer 3 is on the top. Layer 1: red/pink colour, overlay, guassian blur, opacity down. Layer 2: black colour, normal. Layer 3: red/pink colour, overlay.
