I said this on twitter but I’m privated so I wanna put it out into the universe.
Saki Tenma is such amazing rep for chronically ill & disabled people. Throughout her entire arc she consistently succeeds at her goals the most when she allows herself to rest and rely on others, she begins to lose the ability to do what makes her happy when she forces herself past her limits. Her character completely goes against the horrible “push yourself to overcome your disability! you can do anything an abled person can do!” mentality that is pushed in many different types of media and real life; Saki becomes the best version of herself when she focuses on what she herself can do rather than what everyone else can.
She’s surrounded by people who love her and want the best for her, her friends and family want to help her and make her life as fulfilling as possible and they want her to rely on them, there’s no shame around her needing support and that’s so refreshing to see. She’s a really great example of being happy and fulfilled as a disabled person without having to strive to become abled.
