Whumpee with amnesia not remembering anything from before their capture.

They don’t understand why everyone’s so happy to finally see them, they don’t even know who those people are, for starters. However, most importantly, they don’t understand why one person in particular appears to be more overjoyed than the rest, near crying as they run towards them and wrap their arms around them lovingly.

And after a few minutes of trying to remember something- anything, the only thing Whumpee can manage to reply with is, “…who are you?” As they feel the arms around them loosen slightly, watching as the teary-eyed expression of the person turns from joy into one of hurt and confusion, similar to their own.

“I’m sorry..” Whumpee sniffled, holding their legs to their chest as they looked at the dirty bath water, seemingly the first words they’d said since their recovery.

“Hm? For what?” Caretaker asked, washing the other’s back and trying to hide their excitement as Whumpee finally spoke to them, however their tone of voice failed them slightly.

“The bath water… it’s all dirty and red… because of me,” Whumpee murmured again, the last part slipping through their lips slightly quieter than the rest.

Caretaker’s hand stopped momentarily, unsure of what to say, but resumed immediately as they felt Whumpee tense up at the reaction.

Whumpee however, took the lack of words as Caretaker’s irritation and continued talking, attempting to talk their way out of the situation as their body only tensed more, “I-I’m sorry for being so dirty and… for having so many cuts I promise I’ll clean it all up I-“

“Whumpee.” They were suddenly cut off, a hand resting on their shoulder, and they swallowed thickly, preparing for the hit, however it never came, instead two soft hands cupped their cheeks, “You don’t need to be sorry for… well… this,” Caretaker reassured them softly, “I’m taking care of you because I want to, okay? I don’t mind the dirt the blood- hell even the bits of stone that will probably clog the drain later,” Caretaker reminded them, chuckling softly to themselves cause, “All I care about is you right now, and my priority is your comfort, so let me take care of you,” They added, tracing their hands down to Whumpee’s shoulders again, feeling their body slowly relax and lean into their touch.

Nobody talks about depressed Whumpees enough so here’s some prompts:

CWs: Mentions of depression (obviously), suicidal thoughts, mentions of self harm

- Whumpees who sit in bed for days at a time, wondering how their life would’ve been had they never been kidnapped.

- Whumpee telling Caretaker how badly they want to die to simply be free of the pain and the bad thoughts plaguing their mind while Caretaker silently tries to reassure them/ talk them down.

- Also Caretaker constantly keeping an eye on Whumpee just in case. Just in between fine line of being there for them in case they do something stupid but also giving them the space they need.

- Whumpee staying up at night with Caretaker and just sobbing to them for hours at a time, telling them everything they went through while Caretaker, who’s already tired enough, has to calm them down on top of that and reassure them for the 78th time that they’re not worthless.

- Whumpees who still hurt themselves the same way Whumper used to hurt them because they find comfort/ familiarity in it.

- Or alternatively, Whumpees who hurt themselves when they do something wrong because they’ve not used to going unpunished.

- Whumpee noticing how behind they are on everything (wether it’s schoolwork or even dynamics within their friend group) simply because of how long they’ve been shut off from the outside world/ everyone around them.

- Whumpee wondering if there’s even a future for them anymore since they missed out on so much of their life.

- Caretaker who helps depressed Whumpee with everything, bringing them food to their bed to make sure they don’t starve to death in it.

- Whumpee noticing how different everyone is (as opposed to before everything happened) and how they wish they could go back.

- Whumpee pushing everyone away because they’re scared to get close to anyone again.

- Whumpee taking out their anger on Caretaker, the person closest to them, being burnt out from having to act normal around everyone else.

Whumpee gets auditory hallucinations a lot since they've been rescued, so they've learned to just cover their ears and ignore Whumper's voice or Caretaker's screams, knowing that they're safe at home and no one is going to get hurt.

So. One day, when Caretaker actually screams, pleading for help and for Whumpee to call the police, they don't think anything of it.
