Especially after rewatching all of season 2, I feel more confident than ever in saying that this is just a damn good show. I'm genuinely done with wasting my time being critical about OFMD when it feels like it was made with so much love and care and even though they were working with a slashed budget they gave us the best show they could. I don't ask any other media I consume to be perfect so I'd hope I can extend a little grace to my favorite show.

At the end of the day, my single biggest complaint with season 2 is that there wasn't enough of it; I wish we'd got more and longer episodes and got to spend more time with our side characters. That's a hell of a nice complaint to have, really, that the worst thing I can say about this show is that I want more.

I wanna talk about how surprised yet refreshed I felt seeing Ed and Stede's reunion. Cause I half expected like the whole beach scene except Ed runs after him trying to kill him, or something super dramatic like Stede pleading with him, and from what I've seen I think a lot of us thought that way. And then we got petty jabs over dinner we got eye rolls and waiting to have a talk and pretending to not care and it felt.. so much more real than anything I expected ? It physically hurt me when Stede said "I wasn't looking for you by the way" as if we hadn't just seen him spend the last few (months?) saving money and drawing his own maps in a desperate attempt to find Ed. Like I wanted that man to CRAWL ON HIS KNEES back to Ed. I wanted to HURL when Ed said "whatever" like he hadn't spent night after night sobbing over Stede, I wanted him to have an immediate OUTBURST on that man. That being said I am so grateful that they could have easily gone for the route of Stede begs for forgiveness thing but instead chose to put them on equal footing for an open and real conversation. I love that they put the fantasy reunion moment, the mermaid scene, in the gravy basket so we could have that magical reunion and the realistic reunion simultaneously
