This is a painting to me.
I've been cracking up reading the back-and-forth over Emily Wilson's review of the Odyssey, mostly because this is very clearly the first taste of academic mud-slinging most people have had. Like no, my dude, she didn't BAM! TOTALLY EVISCERATE HIM! It's just Tuesday.
But that said,
“There are no sex scenes, and all the food looks horrible.”
Is fucking banger way to end and I need this on a T-shirt.
Ah yes, the three genders
I love used bookstore labeling.

this is basically how the book went, right
the thing about the concept of gendered socialization is that so many people use it as like another kind of gender essentialism. you know it's not an immutable trait right. you can literally overcome it.
"i'm like this because women are socialized to be shy and quiet and subservient" okay good on you for recognizing it, but that's only the very first step. the next few steps are that you Stop Doing It. feminist thought vs feminist action.
and when ppl see a trans woman being confident and unafraid to take up space and decide it's because of her evil evil male socialization, i'm always like "wait you're saying this woman was raised as a child to be loud and confident and take up space? that's awesome, i thought that's how we WANTED people to raise girls? why exactly is it a problem now? 🤔"
like WHY are you telling trans women that they literally have to make themselves smaller and conform to the WORST gender exceptations of women to be seen as real women. since when is it evil and masculine to be confident, i thought we were supposed to be doing that. i thought that was feminism.
Love the boots.
Alternate timeline in which all Greek and Latin roots are swapped:
catastrophe -> contraverse cephalopod -> capitoped chlorophyll -> viridofolia democracy -> populimpery homicide -> anthropoctony homosexual -> equigamic kilometer -> millimensure interregnum -> mesarchy magnanimous -> megapsychic manuscript -> chirography motorcycle -> ergatorote microscope -> parvovisor oxygen -> acidofex polyamory -> multierasty television -> remotoscopy universe -> monostrophe
#fun fact but “chirography” is actually a word#used in mid-19th century America at least to mean “hand-writing”#as in getting a chirography grade at school for your handwriting —@akallabeth-joie
*looks at polyamorous triad* so which of you is the soldier and which is the poet and which is the king

Go Check out Neet- she’s awesome (her socials are at the bottom of the linked page if you want to see some of the training videos for this and other silliness)
really recommend getting a partner with a different religion than you and very little knowledge of your religion because the opportunities for explaining things to each other are just exquisite
yesterday she told me some story about the Buddha's wife and child and I was like. Wait. He fucked? And she was like yeah of course he fucked, why wouldn't he, he was the most attractive and loveable and and wise and etc. person who ever lived. why would he not fuck.
this morning she looked perplexed in the kitchen at me and said "did Jesus not fuck?"
